It's that time of year again. Prom Night is upon the denizens of Llanview, PA, and excitement is bursting over, as one of the most anticipated events in a high schooler's life is set to play out over three, dramatic, explosive, melodic, "Starr X'd" episodes of One Life to Live, beginning this Friday, May 14.
Yours truly was invited to the OLTL studio recently for a preview of Starr X'd Lovers: The Musical, and honies let me tell y'all, the gang over at OLTL has pulled out all the stops to give fans a smash, 3-day event. Several of the soap's major storylines climax during the Glee-esque eppys, including: Langston's (Brittany Underwood) creeping behind Markko's (Jason Tam) back with Ford (David Gregory); Cole (Brandon Buddy) being in the slammer for almost killing Starr's (Kristen Alderson) Pops; a "teenage" Jessica (Bree Williamson) gunning for Cristian (David Fumero), much to the chagrin of Brody (Mark Lawson) and Layla (Tika Sumpter) and Matthew (Eddie Alderson) finally getting the girl, except Danielle's (Kelley Missal) set her sights on another... Welcome to Starr X'd Lovers: The Musical. READ MORE
Whether she's working a con, protecting her kids or reinventing sex in the afternoon, Blair Cramer does it all in style. At the recent Cramer Women's Luncheon in NYC, I got the chance to talk to Kassie DePaiva, the Southern bombshell, who as Blair, has been scheming and loving her way through the fictional town of Llanview, PA since 1993 on ABC Daytime's One Life to Live.
DePaiva revealed to Daytime Confidential why she thinks Blair will never stop meddling in Todd (Trevor St. John) and Tea's (Florencia Lozano) relationship. She also discusses the explosive chemistry Blair has with brothers Ross (Michael Lowry) and Elijah (Matt Walton), and why Ross's personality shift "bummed her". DePaiva also talks about the cancellation of her first soap home, Guiding Light and shares once and for all what a man like Todd Manning has that keeps Blair and Tea so hot and bothered!
Daytime Confidential: Blair has given up Todd, who many would say is the love of her life, though personally, I always thought Max was; is this the last of Blair mixing it up in Todd and Tea's relationship?
Kassie De Paiva: Blair will never stop mixing it up with Todd and Tea. I do believe that she's just taking a break for a while. READ MORE
Get ready One Life to Live fans. The Cramer women are back this February and it’s going to be hot! ABC invited the soap press out to the OLTL studio in New York for a special event reintroducing the Cramers. On hand were: Robin Strasser (Dorian), Kassie DePaiva (Blair), Gina Tognoni (Kelly), Kristen Alderson (Starr), Laura Bonarrigo (Cassie), Brittany Underwood (Langston), and last, but certainly not least Melissa “Bitchy Bangs” Fumero (Adriana). Hilarity ensued when yours truly had to set everyone straight on the origins of Bitchy Bangs.
Daytime Confidential: Melissa, your character, Adriana went from a doormat to a love-to-hate bitch, coinciding with a new haircut for you. What did you make of the Bitchy Bangs phenomenon?
Laura Bonarrigo: I have to interject; I don't understand how any character in daytime can be called "Bitchy Bangs!" Can you explain this to me? Was this after me?
Melissa Fumero: It was so hilarious how everything happened at the same time. Basically, my contract was up and I had a little break before I came back as recurring to finish my storyline. I was there until June or whatever. So on the break, I got this feeling and all of a sudden, "I'm not under contract! I'm going to cut my hair. I'm going to cut bangs! I'm not going to ask permission!" So I did! [Laughs] READ MORE
