By Jillian Bowe on September 02, 2011
Looks like CBS is trying to pull out all the stops to revamp The Talk. Deadline is reporting funny gal Molly Shannon is heading to the CBS gabfest. According to the site, Shannon will be a guest co-host the entire month of September, along with the original hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and newcomer Sheryl Underwood.
Are we really suppose to believe CBS isn't trying to make this hot mess a rip-off of The View? Three comics on ABC's chatfest, three comic actors on CBS'? How long will we have to wait for Sara and Sheryl to get into a smackdown over politics? Here's hoping Molly's Saturday Night Live buddy Tina Fey creates a sitcom to rescue her from the madness. The Talk To Return For Another Season
By Melodie on January 26, 2011
CBS has renewed The Talk for another season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. CBS' answer to ABC's The View has held steady in the ratings, averaging 2.2 million viewers since its debut. Check out what Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, had to say about The Talk after the jump.
After only a few months on the air, The Talk has delivered creative and ratings growth and established a strong profile in daytime. The co-hosts have clicked together, the topics have connected with the audience and the show has added a new dimension to our top-rated daytime line-up. We're excited about its current success and the potential to grow and evolve 'The Talk' even further.
I wonder if this will have any effect on the rest of daytime, i.e. the soaps?

Boston Herald on The Talk: "For This, CBS Canceled As The World Turns?"
By Akash Nikolas on October 19, 2010
Surprising no one with any pop-culture acumen, reviews for the debut of The Talk on CBS have been overwhelmingly negative. The series jumped off with a predictably dull premiere this week, featuring the insipid collaboration of Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Sara Gilbert, Holly Robinson Peete and Sharon Osbourne, and an irrelevant and uninteresting interview with Christie Brinkley. Seriously, who iwaswaiting for an interview with Christie Brinkley?!
The show would have you know it's "nothing at all like The View" and you know what? We all completely agree. The View is watchable most days, if as nothing else, a televised trainwreck. We've already shared what some critics have said, but check out more blistering reviews after the jump: READ MORE
