The 67th Annual Tony Awards served up big wins for former soap stars Judith Light and Cicely Tyson on June 9. Light, who portrayed Karen Wolek on One Life to Live, took home Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play. Light appears in The Assembled Parties.
Tyson, who played Martha Frazier on Guiding Light, landed the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play award. The actress stars in The Trip to Bountiful.
As the World Turns alum Billy Magnussen was nominated for his role in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, but lost out to Lucky Guy’s Courtney B. Vance.

This is going to be good! TVLine is reporting former One Life to Live and Ugly Betty star Judith Light has joined the second season of TNT’s hit series Dallas . Reportedly, she’ll portray the recurring role of “an authoritative and controlling battle-ax who will fight to the death to protect the people she loves. And for the people she loves, she uses every psychological trick in the book to make them do what she wants.”
TVLine doesn’t reveal which character Light will portray, but it speculates if she might play Ann Ewing’s (Brenda Strong) mother.
Could this dragon lady be the mother of Brenda Strong’s Ann Ewing? Seems like a safe bet, particularly in light of the imminent arrival of a character we’re guessing will turn out to be Ann’s estranged daughter.
Judith Light may not have agreed to reprise the career-launching role of Karen Wolek before One Life to Live wrapped production, however it appears the actress will find the time in her busy schedule to join ABC's upcoming concilatory send off on The View.
Soaps In Depth is reporting Light will appear on the special episode of the relentlessly-cloned ABC chatfest on Jan. 13. While I'm glad Light will be a part of the hour—which will likely have Whoopi Goldberg trying to stay awake, while Sherri Shepherd does the whole "sassy black girl who loves her stories" schtick yet again—it would have been nice if Light had been able to actually appear on OLTL before the end. I hear it was only for a cameo, and the brass reportedly courted her something serious. Oh well, maybe the producers of Who's The Boss? will have better luck should they ever do a reunion movie. Despite my revealing last June that One Life to Live alum Judith Light had turned down an offer to reprise the role of housewife-turned-hooker Karen Wolek, rumors seem to persist she is coming back. Unfortunately, those rumors are false.
"Judith isn't coming back to One Life to Live," says a source. "She turned the show down numerous times. They had a really fun cameo for her as Karen, but she turned it down repeatedly." READ MORE
