Only in a Hollywood family would the patriarch learn of his daughter's pending nuptials from a buzz-generating, celebrity news site. That's what happened this weekend when Celebuzz inadvertently became the first to inform Days of Our Lives star John Aniston of his daughter Jennifer Aniston's engagement to Justin Theroux! Said the senior Aniston when Celebuzz contacted him for a comment on Sunday:

“It’s the first I’ve heard about it,” the stunned, yet thrilled, soap star said, in an exclusive interview. “It’s a surprise to me. I’ll have to look online. When I find out more, I guess I’ll tell you!”

Her father, Days of Our Lives star John Aniston, was there to celebrate and support his daughter in receiving her star. Leave it to a worried daddy to try to protect his little girl. In a new chat up with The Hollywood Reporter, TV legend-turned-bona fide movie starlet Jennifer Aniston shared what her father, Days of Our Lives star John Aniston (Victor), said to her when he found out she wanted to follow him into acting:

THR: Your father, John Aniston, has been a longtime castmember on NBC’s Days of Our Lives. Has he, or anyone else in the industry, given you career advice that has really stuck with you?

Aniston: My dad’s advice has always been: “Don’t do it. Become a doctor. Become a lawyer.” He didn’t want me to be heartbroken because he knew it was a tough business. It compelled me to go for it even harder. Do what keeps you happy, and don’t ever let people box you in. There was a period when I was on Friends where The Good Girl came to me, or [2006’s] Friends With Money came to me. I thought, I’ve got to go for it now and try to not just be Rachel Green so I can get out of the Fruity Pebbles section at the grocery and explore the organic food. It’s a terrible analogy, but I had to get out there and do something different so they could see that I’m an actor, so I didn’t forget that I could do other things. I was lucky that happened. It looks like Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) will have to find someone else to plan his wedding to Maggie (Suzanne Rogers). According to E! News, Jennifer Aniston's reps have denied rampant tabloid reports that had the movie star and Friends alum doing a cameo on her dad's sudser as Victor and Maggie's wedding planner. Sigh. I guess I'll go put on my The Rembrandts CD to console myself.  So no one told you life was gonna be this way...

RUMOR REPORT: Is Jennifer Aniston Doing a Cameo on Days of Our Lives?!

Is struggling NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives asking for a little help from one of its famous Friends? U.K. tabloid The Express is reporting Jennifer Aniston is set to appear in several episodes of the sudser in order to help "save her father's job." Said father is of course John Aniston who plays Greek shipping tycoon Victor Kiriakis on the serial.

According to The Express, Aniston's rumored appearance could help DAYS stay on the air, as the soap's ratings are in the toilet and network execs are planning to cancel it. I'm taking all of this with so much salt I might give myself a stroke, considering NBC Entertainment Chief Robert Greenblatt just stated the channel was happy with DAYS; plus the show has a contract through Sept. 2013.  That isn't stopping the Aniston rumor from picking up steam online, however. Kate (Lauren Koslow) chose to stay out of prison by marrying the man who allegedly shot her son Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson). As her wedding day approaches, a couple of not-so-well wishers lined up to take their shots at the Days of our Lives villainess. Kate shared a great scene with Victor (John Aniston), who prompty derailed her money train before kicking her out of the mansion. Philip turned up and pleaded with his mother to turn herself in to save their tattered relationship. The big question of course, is not whether or not she will actually marry Stefano (Joseph Mascolo), but whether or not you like what she's wearing.
