Jason Cook

It's Official: Jason Cook OUT At General Hospital!

The house cleaning continues over at General Hospital. Soap Opera Digest is reporting Jason Cook (Dr. Matt Hunter) is departing the show next month. According to the magazine, Cook had already been planning to take some time off from the soap, to focus on a number of outside projects. Cook stated:
I was going to have to take several months off the show for all these other things I'm working on. One would have been this summer, to do LifeCHANGE [his project with Arianne Zucker, Nicole, DAYS] and other shoots, as well as my new cooking show, CHOP THIS. It's an on-location cooking show with a different restaurant chef showing us a couple of recipes each week. It's going to start online at chopthis.com. If Genreful [his short film with co-star Bradford Anderson, Spinelli] gets funded, I have that to do, too. So, I am stepping away for the time being. There is no talk about me coming back, but I was going to have to take time off anyway.

Help General Hospital's Jason Cook and Bradford Anderson's Short Film Get Made!

Jason Cook has had a lot more to do as General Hospital's Dr. Matt Hunter since the new regime took over, but that hasn't stopped him from creating his own projects. Cook and producer Stephen Hansen recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for their short film Genreful, starring Cook's GH costar Bradford Anderson (Spinelli)

In Genreful, a suicidal young man named Anton (Anderson) is rescued from the brink by a girl named Hannah. Anton and Hannah ultimately fall in love, but their happiness is short-lived, when Hannah's brutish ex (Jason Mewes) comes back into the picture.

The short flick will span the varied film genres of Drama, Romantic Comedy, Thriller, Action, Horror, Animation and Sci-Fi, hence the name Genreful. Sounds ambitious and intriguing! Watch Cook and Hansen's campaign vid after the jump.

Who Should Starr Manning be Paired With on General Hospital?

Soap fans love their couples and we here at Daytime Confidential are no exception.  The moment news broke that Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson) is on her way to Port Charles my DC podcast co-host Regan Cellura and I began discussing which GH'er we’d like to see her paired with.

Regan doesn’t want to see a Michael (Chad Duell) and Starr pairing, but I think the idea is intriguing. Primarily, because of the drama it would create between their parents. Then we started thinking of other GH characters Starr could be paired with. Johnny (Brandon Barash) and Starr immediately jumped to mind. Our discussion continued, with names such as Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Matt (Jason Cook) popping up. It will be interesting to see how Ron Carlivati works Starr into Port Charles,  but we’d love to hear your thoughts!

Who would you like to see Starr paired with on General Hospital?

You Decide: Should GH Bring Lucas Jones Back to be Paired With Matt Hunter?

On today’s Daytme Confidential podcast Jamey makes the brilliant suggestion that General Hospital should recast Lucas Jones with Van Hansis and bring him back as an intern doctor, who falls in love with Matt Hunter (Jason Cook).  You’ll want to tune into the podcast to hear Jamey’s complete Wishful Storyline idea, which includes the pairing and how GH could introduce a new crop of young nurses at that hospital.

Could you get behind a hypothetical Lucas and Matt pairing?

General Hospital Stars Flex Their Muscles For Habitat For Humanity

General Hospital’s Lexi Ainsworth and Bradford Anderson (pictured above) joined their GH costars and fans for a bit of elbow grease at the 2nd Annual The House That General Hospital Fans Built work site on December 4 in Los Angeles. All proceeds from the event, which helped build affordable housing for families in need, went towards funding the house. See more photos from the project after the jump!
