Jamey told ya! Betsy Franco is joining her son James Franco on General Hospital as the psychotic artist, Franco's mother. ABC Soaps in Depth confirmed the news with a rep for GH today.

Betsy Franco will begin a short-term role on Friday, July 2, when Spinelli tracks down the eccentric, murder-obsessed artist's mom.

Okay, after seeing this Funny or Die clip from Acting With James Franco, I'm actually excited about seeing Mama Franco play Mama Franco on General Hospital. Mama Franco is the shiz! She's almost as cool as sassy, next-door-neighbor Wilona from Good Times! 

Dear Mama Franco,

Please disregard all the snarky comments I've made about your lovely son, James coming back to my soap. Any kid with a mom with a mouth as filthy as yours gets my vote any day!

Word is the actor wants his mom to play the part. Hmm, maybe Mama Franco can shed some light as to why Franco likes to masturbate to Jason Morgan wall posters after killing people for art's sake? Or not.

James Franco makes an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show today.The actor, who stars opposite Julia Roberts in the soon-to-be released film Eat, Pray, Love, will chat with The Mighty O, along with Roberts and other castmates, about starring in the big screen adaptation of the New York Times Best Seller. Wonder if Franco will mention his stint on GH?

Silver screen and General Hospital star, James Franco reportedly drew the ire of his professor for texting. According to Star magazine, the actor was sending texts during class at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts when his professor lost his patience with him. Says the magazine,

The professor was so annoyed that James wasn't paying attention; he told him to go wait outside the class. He didn't care James is a celebrity.
