INTERVIEW: General Hospital’s Finola Hughes on Celebrating #GH50 and Her Directorial Debut With 'The Bet'

Finola Hughes is one busy lady.  As top cop Anna Devane on General Hospital, she's kicking tail and taking names. Away from Port Charles, the actress has been immersed in her directorial debut for The Bet

I asked Hughes about her passion project, when I caught up with her at the Paley Center event celebrating GH's 50th anniversary. We also talked about her on-screen reunions with Anders Hove (Faison) and Ian Buchanan (Duke) and the directorial advice on-screen daughter Kimberly McCullough (Robin) gave her.

DC: I got to hear your interview on The Jolt with Larry Flick.

FH: Oh good; he’s hilarious.

DC: Your son was hysterical! Calling out your hairstyle from back in the day, I was cracking up.

FH: Totally, he is just, yeah, I know. [Laughs]

DC: It must have been great having your son with you during all the 50th Anniversary press events?

FH: It really was great and I think he really enjoyed it. He got to ring the bell at the stock exchange, that’s amazing, once in a lifetime. READ MORE

GH's Finola Hughes and Tristan Rogers Weigh in on The Great Holly/Robert/Anna/Duke Debate!

Duke (Ian Buchanan) or Robert (Tristan Rogers)? Robert or Duke? General Hospital fans have debated who sexy, super spy Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) loves best ad nauseum. In Soap Opera Digest's special tribute issue honoring the soap's 50th anniversary, Hughes gave her two cents on Anna's two gents. Said the soap star:

"I have a feeling that it probably is true what Anna said to Robert on Night Shift: 'I always thought we would end up together on a beach drinking mai tais.' I'd say to Ian, my friend, 'At the end of the day, we'll be sipping stewed peas at the SAG/AFTRA Pension Home, sitting next to each other in lawn chairs.' But I think that Anna feels that way about Robert [laughs]"   READ MORE

Fang Bangers, Port Charles Style: General Hospital Revisits Caleb, Livvie and Lucy's Vampire Saga!

From the moment John McBain (Michael Easton) first crossed paths with Samantha McCall Morgan (Kelly Monaco) the pair had the sense that they had known each other before; perhaps in another life? Starting January 14, General Hospital will begin exploring an arc questioning whether FBI agent-turned-cop McBain and P.I. McCall are really their Port Charles' alter egos — vampire rocker Caleb Morley and his bitch goddess beloved Livvie!

TV Guide's Michael Logan has the scoop on what happens when former vampire slayer Lucy Coe first spies John:

She completely freaks and screams, "Caleb!" says head writer Ron Carlivati. "Later Kelly's character, Sam, comes out of the ladies room and Lucy think it's Livvie." Lucy goes into full slayer mode and stabs John. He's rushed to the hospital. She ends up in the slammer. READ MORE

Meredith Vieira Checks Back Into General Hospital

Ten years after her first stint on General Hospital, Meredith Vieira is back. TV Guide Magazine's  Michael Logan spoke with the former co-host of The View and The Today Show to get the skinny on what her character Bree Flanders will be up to when she hits Port Charles on Dec. 14.

TV Guide Magazine: You were such a hoot as Bree. What's become of our girl?

Vieira: Well, she's no longer providing comfort to men! Lynn Herring returns to the show as Lucy Coe [also Friday] and it turns out Bree is her senior vp of marketing at CoeCoe Cosmetics. Sabrina and Felix are desperately trying to get a meeting with Lucy but first they have to go through me. [Laughs] But, really, not much has changed for Bree. Prostitution. Makeup. Hey, it's all sales.
