Remember last summer when Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens spilled some serious tea about shakeups at The Talk? Let me refresh your memory. Has The Talk strayed from the concept that inspired it? In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, ousted co-host Holly Robinson Peete looks back on her time at the CBS talk show, the dismissals of herself and Leah Remini and the dismantling of The Talk’s original concept.

“I feel bad for [Sara], because I think about her original concept for the show. I don’t know where that is now,” she says. “I mean the two ladies they brought on are fantastic and great TV personalities, but they’re not moms. So, I guess they abandoned the whole mom brand. That was Sara’s initial concept. I haven’t really spoken to her much since, so I don’t know what she thinks about that concept being dismantled.”

One of daytime's most legendary leading ladies credited another daytime great for her new job today on The Talk. Former General Hospital star Genie Francis (ex-Laura) appeared on The Talk  to discuss her new gig on The Young and the Restless as Cane and Caleb's (Daniel Goddard) mobster mama Genevieve Atkinson. When co-host Holly Robinson Peete asked about how Francis' new job came about, here's what Francis replied:

"I must thank Oprah Winfrey here and now. I would have have this job without her. She made my dream come true as well." 

 As a point of reference, earlier in the episode The Talk ladies had highlighted one of their employees, Paolo Presta, who came to fame after Oprah helped him secure his own dream gig, a walk on role on then favorite sitcom, NBC's Will & Grace. Presta went on to book a recurring role on General Hospital before landing his current job with The Talk. Now that's what I call six degrees of soaperation between Francis, Presta and The Mighty O.

Francis went on to recall how Y&R's showrunner Maria Arena Bell conceived the idea of Genevieve after hearing Francis detail how she was over playing soap victims. We’ve seen The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful stars make appearances on The Price is Right and now fans of The Talk’s Julie Chen and Holly Robinson Peete can look forward to them popping up on the long-running game show too. According to EW.com, Chen and Peete will appear on the April 6 episode of The Price is Right, hosted by Drew Carey. Fans will then see Carey drop in on The Talk later that same day.

From The Talks’ Holly Robinson Peete (pictured above with husband Rodney Peete and their children) to former Days of Our Lives star Taylor Spreilter, the premiere party was quite the draw.
