Daytime Emmy winner and The Bold and the Beautiful star Heather Tom is getting married! According to Soaps in Depth, Tom and long-time boyfriend James Achor will jump the broom in September. Reportedly, the couple plans to honeymoon in Bora Bora. Congratulations!

Did insecurities about her marriage inspire The Bold and the Beautiful’s Katie to renew her vows with Bill (Don Diamont)? Her portrayer, Heather Tom, doesn’t think so.  In an interview with TV Guide, Tom discusses Bill’s betrayal.

TV Guide Magazine: She really doesn't see this betrayal coming? Let's back up a bit. Katie recently gathered family and friends for a surprise ceremony to renew her marriage vows — a surprise even to Bill. Like, who does that? Somewhere deep inside she must have known her marriage needed cementing.

Tom: I really don't think so! Up to this point, she's never had a reason not to trust Bill. He's never lied to her, as far as she knows. She knows there's a flirtation with Steffy and that it could be a problem, but I don't think she's suspicious of Bill in any way. She feels they've gone through a really hard time and come out on the other side. She thinks they can work through anything. [Laughs] But obviously she doesn't know what's really going on. The idea that Bill would cross the line with Steffy is totally foreign to Katie. She just doesn't believe it's possible.

In a quick follow up to Jonathan Jackson’s win of Outstanding Supporting Actor, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Heather Tom won Outstanding Supporting Actress. The soap star has snagged Emmy gold before in the Younger Actress Category for her work on The Young and the Restless.

Yesterday's scene on The Bold and the Beautiful where Katie (Heather Tom) ho-checked Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) reminded me of a similar scene 15 years ago over on sister soap The Young and the Restless. Back then, Heather Tom played Victoria Newman (the one and only Victoria Newman, in my book!) as she tried to lure her first love Ryan McNeil (Scott Reeves) away from Nina (Tricia Cast).

It's amazing to watch this scene back and realize that it's basically the same scene as the one between Katie and Steffy! Except of course that the writing, directing, music and psychological tension were all so much better back then. It's fascinating to watch Tom play the circling temptress 15 years ago, and the protective wife today. Finally, it's thrilling to remember what it was like when two powerhouse Emmy-winning actresses went at it. They don't make them like this anymore.

The Bold and the Beautiful celebrated its recent Daytime Emmy Nominations with acting nominees Susan Flannery, Heather Tom and Scott Clifton (pictured above with Brad Bell and Lee Phillip Bell) on Stage 31 at CBS Television Studio on May 17.
