EXCLUSIVE: DAYS' Eric Martsolf Gets Real About Eileen Davidson, "Bristen" and Brady Black Being an Addict, Not an IdiotBy Jamey Giddens on May 10, 2013
Brady Black's (Eric Martsolf) shocking, sinful dalliance with Kristen DiMera (Eileen Davidson)—his father's ex-lover, who once tried to kill his stepmother—has brought the House of Black crumbling down on NBC Daytime's Days of Our Lives.
I caught up with Martsolf at the recent Days of Our Lives Charity Event for Autism Speaks in Atlanta. The hunky actor dished what it's been like working with soap legend Davidson. He also shared how glad he is Brady is no longer hopping from relationship to relationship. Martsolf then revealed his belief that Brady turning a blind eye to Kristen's manipulations doesn't mean he's stupid, it just means he's addicted to love.
Daytime Confidential: Brady is in one of the hottest pairings on soaps right now, with Kristen.
Eric Martsolf: I like that.
DC: Are you happy? They've put Brady with so many girls over the course of the last few years and it was kind of just hit or miss. Now you're in a pairing that is red-hot!
EM: Thank you for the comment. I'm ecstatic and I was ecstatic when I found out I was going to be working with Eileen. I hadn't met Eileen, but like almost everybody in this room I've spoke to, they all remember her as Ashley on The Young and the Restless. I myself remember her as Ashley and being impressed with her. I think the opportunity to work with her has been terrific. Thank God they actually took some time to invest in a relationship with Brady, because you're right. It's been very...just jumping from lilypad to lilypad. It's like, when is this frog gonna find a home? They have invested in it. It's under interesting circumstances, but that's what makes good soap.
DC: It's Oedipal, Greek tragedy. I remember when Kristen was almost a step-parent to little boy Brady. Now she's calling him Daddy!
EM: Yeah, now it's "Who's Your Daddy?" [Laughs]
(Eric gets pulled away temporarily.)
Victor (John Aniston) thought his grandson had finally come to his senses, when Brady (Eric Martsolf) dropped by the Kiriakis mansion. He was wrong.
Victor said Kristen (Eileen Davidson) was the worst addiction Brady had ever face. He warned his late daughter's son, saying Kristen was going to suck his soul dry.
Brady, being one of the dumbest characters in soaps, didn't listen to a word his grandfather said.
Suddenly, Victor changed his tune and apologized. He made up with Brady, saying he'd support him.
After Brady left, Henderson said he was happy to hear Victor was supporting Brady. Victor revealed he had no intention of supporting Brady; he was just biding his time. READ MORE
Kristen DiMera (Eileen Davidson) has been a one-woman wrecking crew when it comes to the Black family on Days of Our Lives. Since her return to Salem, U.S.A., supercouple John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) have split; she's also bedding John's son Brady (Eric Martsolf). Now soap opera's answer to Jason Bourne has to pretend to be okay with Bristen, in order to save his gullible son from Stefano's (Joe Mascolo) adopted spawn!
On Tuesday's episode of DAYS, John clued Marlena in on his plan to bust up Brady and Kristen, by pretending he still has feelings for his diabolical ex. Will John's scam work, or will he push the late Isabella's baby boy further into Kristen's clutches?
Elsewhere in town, Nancy (Patrika Darbo) and Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) wondered if their plotting and planning to permanently bust up Dannifer (Shawn Christian and Melissa Reeves) was working. Watch the recap video after the jump!
Has Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) relationship with John (Drake Hogestyn) devolved to the point where he’ll ask Kristen (Eileen Davidson) to marry him out of spite? This week Brady proposes to Kristen, but what made him do it? Watch the Days of Our Lives promo after the jump!
The Phoenix rises again in Salem, U.S.A today on Days of Our Lives. How will Stefano (Joe Mascolo) deal with his daughter Kristen's (Eileen Davidson) continued relationship with Brady (Eric Martsolf) — the son of the DiMeras' sworn enemy, John Black (Drake Hogestyn)?
Who says you can't go home again, even while starring on another soap? Days of Our Lives scene stealer Eileen Davidson dished to TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan about her upcoming The Young and the Restless guest stint. The multi-tasking actress will reprise the role of Ashley Abbott for Y&R's 40th anniversary, while still appearing as DAYS' dastardly Kristen Blake DiMera. From the chat:
TV Guide Magazine: Can we safely assume that Sony, which oversees both Days and Y&R, made this magic happen between the networks?
Davidson: Yes, Sony worked it all out and it's been terrific! I got a phone call quite a few weeks ago asking if I'd be willing to come back to Y&R for a few days and did I want to think about it? I was, like, "Think about it? I don't need to think. Of course, I'll come back!" When [Y&R head writer] Josh Griffith spoke to you last summer he let it be known that he was sorry I was gone and that he wanted me to return. But, really, what were the chances?
