Daniel Goddard Wants Colin to Threaten to Cut Off Victor Newman's Legs on Young and Restless!

General Hospital might be sidelining the mob, but The Young and the Restless hunk Daniel Goddard (Cane) is hoping Genoa City will soon be cementing the Atkinsons (featuring two GH alums) as a bona fide crime dynasty, complete with TV pop Tristan Rogers (Colin) going head to head with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and/or Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Goddard in this week's CBS Soaps In Depth:

Genoa City really does't have a crime family," points out Goddard. "You've got Victor and Jack going at each other, but Colin is really a take-no-prisoners kind of guy. He knows what he wants and goes after it." READ MORE

Why Sony and CBS Have to Either Let Maria Arena Bell Helm Y&R Her Way or Fire Her

Is anyone else experiencing any soapy flashbacks, set to Nadia's Theme of course, to when Maria Arena Bell first managed to wrest control of The Young and the Restless from Lynn Marie Latham and later Josh Griffith? I certainly have been, thanks to all these backstage casting dramas.

Once Ri Ri was the HIIC (Head In-Law in Charge) she quickly undid everything Latham had done on the soap, even killing Victor's (Eric Braeden) dog! We didn't mind it so much, because LML wasn't the greatest of writers for Y&R (although LML never had Daytime Emmy-winner Greg Rikaart dressed as a rodent, had two doppelganger stories going at once, or had to have Jesse, Al and Victoria Rowell force her to write for the black folks), but it was evident to all that MAB was cleaning house. Basically the only major LML addition who survived the soap cleansing was Cane Ashby as played by the popular Daniel Goddard.

While we hear MAB was itching to toss the character of Cane and the actor out on their Aussie bums way back when, the network aka Barbara Bloom said "Not no, but hell no" due to the popularity of Cane's romance with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). Although Cane and Lily have never been a favorite pairing of this blog's, I did get where the network was coming from. They are very popular. Don't believe me? Try dissing the pairing on Twitter. You'll see the blue whale in five seconds flat from all the incensed retweets. In this day and age it really doesn't make sense to piss off soap fans who are still that diehard, all for the sake of banishing any memory of a prior regime and/or high school-esque backstage b.s.  READ MORE

BACKSTAGE DRAMA: Is Y&R's Cast TICKED Daniel Goddard is Back?

Is there trouble at The Young and the Restless? According to Soap Opera Weekly, the show is having a real-life soap opera behind the scenes with Daniel Goddard. The magazine alleges:

According to insiders, major tension between Goddard and his co-stars led to the decision last fall to write off Cane. Cane's February demise was intended to be permanent with no ghostly pop-ups. However, a source says Goddard discovered what fate was in store for him and confronted his bosses. The Y&R brass promptly disavowed the termination decision insisting Cane's death was not the end for Goddard, and a big story was in the works.

Y&R's Scott Hamner on Lane's Sweeps Story: "Think War Of The Roses Meets North By Northwest"

Lord, this is all I need to get my Good Friday off to a bad start. Once again, The Young and the Restless co-head writer and Netflix's most valued customer Scott Hamner is using freaking MOVIES to explain the show's bad storytelling! Here's what he told CBS Soaps In Depth about Lane's (Christel Khalil and Daniel Goodard) May Sweeps "Ghost" story:

"We're going to learn this story in pieces. It's going to lead to a crescendo that's going to be spectacular. Think War Of The Roses meets North By Northwest."

Daniel Goddard is Still on Contract at Y&R!

Good news for fans of The Young and the Restless’ Daniel Goddard, his character Cane Ashby and the current Cane and Lily (Christel Khalil) storyline. According to CBS Soaps in Depth, the Goddard remains on contract and isn’t going anywhere.

Soaps In Depth hears that -- due in part to the fan support he's received since Cane was killed off -- Goddard is definitely not leaving the show, and will continue to appear beyond just figments of Lily's imagination!
