Broadway actor and singer Van Hughes has been cast as Cole Thornhart for One Life to Live's ABC Daytime finale. Hughes will finish out the character's storyline, as Brandon Buddy had to be recast after one day of filming his stint reprising the popular role. The scenes Buddy filmed will reportedly be reshot. A bit of sad news for the Sole fans, according to sources the character of Cole Thornhart on One Life to Live, previously played by Brandon Buddy, is being recast. Reportedly Buddy was brought back and actually taped a day, but was unable to continue in the role.

"The show is just sick about having to recast," says a source. "They really wanted to give Kristen [Alderson] and Brandon's fans a satisfying end to their story."

No word on who the actor will be to finish out Cole's story arc.

Starr-Crossed No More. Don't be surprised if you see Cole Thornhart heading out of Llanview soon. Sources say Brandon Buddy really is exiting the sudser. Word is, Buddy's tweet  in June about leaving One Life to Live was the real deal all along, however the brass "encouraged" him to recant the social networking slippage. You may remember, Buddy claimed a hacker broke into his account and posted that he was quitting his J-O-B. SPOILER ALERT: Look for Cole to exit alive, but not exactly well.

Fans of Brandon Buddy (Cole) can rejoice. The One Life to Live star is staying put in Llanview. ABC released the following statement to Daytime Confindential:

ABC Daytime is confirming that Brandon Buddy remains under contract at One Life to Live.

Buddy claims his Twitter account was hacked last week, and the news of his departure on the show was false.

I have amazing followers! Thanks for all the warm wishes about me leaving the show. Still lots to come from Starr & Cole though!

Friday, the actor announced on twitter his decision to leave OLTL where he originated the role of Cole.

Say it ain't so! One Life To Live star Brandon Buddy (Cole) is saying goodbye to Llanview. The actor tweeted,

Its a bitter sweet day :(  Today I decided I'm not going to resign.  No more Llanview...

So far, no word on if the role will be recast or the character will be written off.
