The insanely-talented Blake Berris has been sending chills up soap fans' spines since returning to Days of Our Lives as the menacing Nick Fallon. While you genuinely feel ex-con Nick is sincere in his love for pregnant coed Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus), you're almost terrified to find out what he'll do to protect that love.
Berris has mastered the delicate balance between playing a well-meaning suitor and a homophobic, mind twister. Watch out, Cousin Will (Chandler Massey)! It's no wonder Berris is enjoying as much success in the indie film world as he is in daytime.
House of Last Things, the Michael Bartlett-helmed supernatural thriller Berris stars in, has been selected to premiere at the 20th International Festival du film fantastique de Gérardmer in France!
Here's what Berris told me about his role in the drama when I interviewed him last fall:
"Jesse in House of Last Things was an incredible role. Without giving too much away, me and Lindsey Haun's character, we're kind of these Portland trailer trash characters who move into this house—they're house-sitting—and there's a supernatural aspect to the house. It's kind of transforming them as people. It was really an awesome role to craft, because my character, from beginning to end, really becomes a different person."
Congrats to Berris, Bartlett and the rest of the peeps associated with House of Last Things! Watch the flick's sexy, scary trailer below.
The turnaround at NBC's singular daytime soap Days of Our Lives is in full effect. Amid a creative renaissance (Superbitch Kristen; Wedding Interruptus) and a renewal, the sudser hit a 21-week high among the coveted women 18-49 demo the week of Jan. 14-18. READ MORE
At the Brady Pub, Nick (Blake Berris) told Rafe (Galen Gering) he wanted to spend the rest of his life taking care of Gabi (Camila Banus). Later, Ned Ashton, oops, wrong soap! I mean Justin (Wally Kurth) showed up and Rafe left.
Nick quickly gave Justin a dollar, so their conversation would be covered by attorney/client privilege. After Justin accepted it, Nick said he wanted to know what his and Gabi’s rights to the baby were. Nick also wanted to know what it would take to prove Will (Chandler Massey) would be an unfit father, so he and Gabi would get full custody. Justin told him he wanted nothing to do with Nick’s plan and gave him back the dollar.
Days of Our Lives started with Gabi (Camila Banus) walking down the aisle to marry Nick (Blake Berris). As the couple started to say “I do”, Chad (Casey Deidrick) interrupted the wedding by saying she should tell the truth about who the real father of her baby is.
I loved how Doug (Bill Hayes) and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) arrived just in time for all the drama to go down.
Rafe (Galen Gering) went all caveman on Chad, causing Hope (Kristian Alfonso) to pull them both out into the church foyer. The three missed out on all the drama inside.
In the church, Nick desperately tried to cling to the lie, but Will (Chandler Massey) wouldn’t let him. He revealed to everyone that he is the father of Gabi’s baby. As much as I loathe Gabi’s plot point pregnancy, I’ll admit the climax delivered. READ MORE
It's the soap opera wedding of the decade. Everything has built to this. After years of intense romance and overcoming epic obstacles with the sheer determination of their everlasting love, they're finally going to say "I Do". Oh wait, that was a Wikipedia entry for Bo and Hope in the 80's.
Will (Chandler Massey) may be the biological father of Gabi’s (Camila Banus) baby, but the moment she and Nick (Blake Berris) convinced him to let Nick raise the child as his own, Will became the odd-man-out. The happy couple are moving on with their wedding plans, but might Will have second thoughts and cause problems for them? Watch this week’s Days of Our Lives promo after the jump! READ MORE
