Is she staying or is she going? On today's episode of The View, series creator and executive producer Barbara Walters denied Elisabeth Hasselbeck is on her way out. Said Babs:
"There is a particularly false story that keeps getting picked up about Elisabeth's alleged departure, saying that we don't approve of her conservative views. The truth is we love Elisabeth. I like her personally and she's just a wonderful person. But beyond that, we value and appreciate her point of view because Elisabeth helps give the show perspective and balance. ... So we have no plans for Elisabeth to leave the show."
What the h-e-double-hockey-sticks is going on at ABC Daytime's once insurmountable chatfest The View? First Joy Behar announces her departure; now US Weekly is reporting Elisabeth Hasselbeck has been fired for being "too extreme and right wing". From the article:
"The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing," the insider tells Us. "People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed."
Journalistic icon Barbara Walters returned to The View on Monday after an extended absence, due to chicken pox. The show featured surprises and a series of “Welcome back” clips from recent guests and guest hosts such as Susan Lucci, Brooke Shields and cast members from series like General Hospital.
Veteran TV journalist Barbara Walters will resume her co-hosting duties on The View on March 4. Walters called into the talk show today and made the announcement herself. Walters stated:
"Like it or not, I’m coming back on the show again starting next Monday. No more chicken pox, no more falling down, no more nothing. I’ll be back, and I so look forward to seeing all of you. I haven’t been contagious for a while, but they wanted me to have rest, and I’ve had enough rest and I’m ready to come back." READ MORE

Walters reportedly fell and hit her head as the result of a fever brought on by chicken pox! Watch a clip of her calling in to chat with Whoopi, Joy, Elisabeth, Sherri and guest co-host Kris Jenner after the jump!
She's traversed the globe, booking exclusive interviews with dictators, Oscar winners and... Honey Boo Boo. Now Barbara Walters is dealing with one "get" she likely would have been glad to cede over to one of her competitors. Today on The View, moderator Whoopi Goldberg revealed Walters has been suffering from the chicken pox. Said Goldberg:
You all know that she fell and cut her head 10 days ago, and then was running a temperature," says Goldberg. "But it turns out it is all the result of a delayed childhood. Barbara has the chicken pox. She never had it as a child. So now she's been told to rest, she's not allowed any visitors."
