"I never feel ganged up on."
The aftermath from Bill O’Reilly’s visit to The View wasn’t the only hot topic Monday on ABC’s headline grabbing chat fest; so was Levi Johnston’s appearance. Barbara Walters kicked things off with a bang by telling Johnston that in her own mind she’d walked out on him many times and then questioned why he’s running for mayor of Wasilla.
"You became famous for impregnating a 17-year-old girl. You're 20 years old, you don't have a high school diploma yet, you don't have a trade. Now you're running for mayor. Would it not be better for you, instead of seeking publicity, to learn a trade, to find a job, to get an education and to support your son?"
Needless to say Johnston did himself no favors with his responses to the ladies' questions. Jamey has pointed it out many times on the podcast, but Barbara Walters must just cringe at some of the interviews, like this one, she’s forced to do on The View. Watch the clip after the jump! READ MORE
How much yammering can morning audiences handle? We’re going to find out. Already facing increased competition from CBS’s upcoming The Talk, now The View’s Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie have another threat to worry about. According to the New York Post, Oprah has brought in Mark Burnett to produce a daily panel talk show. The new chat fest will premiere in January when OWN launches.
For the first time in TV history a sitting U.S. President will visit a daytime talk show and what better place to sit down than on The View? This Thursday–as part of The View’s Red, White & View campaign–President Barack Obama will appear on the chatfest. Barbara Walters–who has been off the air recovering from heart valve surgery since May–will return for the special occasion.
“We are so pleased and honored that President Obama will be a guest on The View. The President last appeared on the program in March 2008 while he was still a Senator and First Lady Michelle Obama was a featured guest co-host in June, 2008. This shows that both the President and First Lady feel that our show is an influential and important source of information and news. I’m also going to appear on The View Thursday for the first time since my open heart surgery in May. I will return full-time in September,” said Ms. Walters.
The last time President Obama stopped by The View, he was still a Senator from Illinois.
