Anderson Cooper's Talk Show Gets Second Season

CNN host and daytime newcomer Anderson Cooper has something to smile about. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cooper’s daytime talk show Anderson has been renewed for a second season by Fox stations.  Warner Bros. president of Domestic Television Distribution Ken Werner had this to say about the show:

“Since its launch, the series has continued to grow and find its voice in a very competitive and fragmented landscape,” added Werner. “We have great faith in Anderson and with strong station partners, we believe we are well on the way to creating a valuable news lead-in.”

Anderson Cooper Isn't Worried 'Anderson' Will Affect AC 360 or 60 Minutes Reputation

We should start a Daytime Confidential pool betting how long it will take for The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s NeNe Leakes to appear on Anderson Cooper’s new talk show Anderson, after it premieres this fall.

In a report from Promax BDA, Ad Week addresses Cooper’s discussion with The Early Show’s Erica Hill about whether-or-not interviewing such reality stars during the daytime would undermine him at Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN or as a contributor to 60 Minutes on CBS.

Cooper, unsurprisingly, thinks that his reportorial reputation will remain untouched no matter how many reality stars he interviews during the day. “You can be very serious and very passionate about [serious news] and still like [Real Housewives of Atlanta star] NeNe Leakes,” he said. “People know that you can juggle different things.” READ MORE

Is Katie Couric Headed for 60 Minutes and a Daytime Talk Show?

The New York Post
is reporting that Katie Couric has been offered a position as a regular on 60 Minutes, and that she will step down from her current position as anchor of the CBS Evening News. Couric has held the latter position since 2006, and the brass at CBS are allegedly trying to keep her at the network. There is also discussion of Couric having her own daytime talk show, which as The Wrap points out, would put her in an oddly similar position to current 60 Minutes regular Anderson Cooper, whose own daytime talk show is expected to launch this fall.
