Alex Trebek Talks Likely Jeopardy Retirement

This popular daytime game show host is considering retirement in 2016. Before you give a response, be sure to put it in the form of a question! If you said, "Who is Alex Trebek?" you get to go onto Final Jeopardy! TV Guide Magazine's William Keck got the exclusive on Trebek's exit strategy from the game show he's hosted since 1984. Said Trebek:

"I suspect this might be my last contract," says the multiple Daytime Emmy winner. "I'm not going to go on forever. My contract expires in 2016. There is a time for all things and my time may be coming."

If things turn bad for Matt Lauer at Today it appears he may already have another hosting gig waiting in the wings. According to the New York Post, Lauer is atop the list of potential replacements for Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, who is expected to leave the show in 2016. CNN’s Anderson Cooper is also in the running for the job.

According to sources with knowledge of the internal discussions, Sony is also strongly considering Anderson Cooper — whose contract with CNN reportedly ends next year — for the job.

But right now, Lauer’s name is at the top of the list, several sources say.

Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! Renewed Through 2016 on ABC-Owned Stations




Get ready to see more of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! Broadcast & Cable is reporting the two Sony-produced game shows have been renewed through the 2015-2016 season on ABC-owned TV stations.

The new contracts will bring Wheel and Jeopardy! to 33 and 32 years on the air respectively. Rebecca Campbell, president of the ABC Owned Television Stations Group, said in a released statement:

 

"Our ABC-owned stations have been the local destinations for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! for nearly 30 years. Both shows are strong perennial performers and we are thrilled to continue to offer them to our viewers and advertisers."

Beloved daytime game show host Alex Trebek is recovering from a heart attack he suffered this past Saturday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 71-year-old Jeopardy! moderator was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles following the mild attack.
