Oscar nominee and former As the World Turns star Julianne Moore may be joining the cast of blockbuster dystopian film franchise The Hunger Games. According to Deadline, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay director Francis Lawrence is interested in casting Moore as President Alma Coin.
I’ve heard that Lionsgate and director Francis Lawrence are eye-ing Julianne Moore to play the role of President Alma Coin. She is the manipulative politician who figures brightly in the finale as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) becomes a symbol of rebellion against the autocratic Capitol government.
There must have been something in the water in Oakdale, Illinois. The fictional burg from CBS Daytime's defunct sudser As The World Turns proved quite the training ground for future film starlets like Julianne Moore, Meg Ryan and Parker Posey.
Now a new generation of ATWT grads are taking Hollywood by storm, including Vampire Diaries hunk Zach Roerig and one of pilot season's most in demand actors for the past few cycles, Jesse Lee Soffer.
A month doesn't go by without an item about Soffer being written up on Deadline or The Hollywood Reporter's website. With impressive acting chops and a chiseled, slightly-freckled, alabaster body to go along for the ride, Soffer has booked steady work since vacating the role of Will Munson on the CBS Daytime soap.
Most recently, he's been getting ink and/or HTML code due to his turn as murder victim Travis Alexander in Lifetime's upcoming Jodi Arias biopic, Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret. In the flick, premiering Saturday at 8 EST, Soffer stars opposite LOST's Tania Raymonde.
Former General Hospital star and Oscar nominee James Franco (ex-Franco) is the latest celebrity to launch a Indiegogo campaign to pay for a film, but there’s a twist. The $500,000 Franco is hitting fans up for will be used to produce not one, but three films based on his 2010 book Palo Alto, according to The Wrap.
Franco has big plans for the money: a trio of feature-length films directed by four up-and-coming talents. "Memoria" will be co-directed by Nina Ljeti and Vladimir de Fontenay; "Killing Animals" will be directed by Bruce Thierry Cheung; and "Yosemite" will be directed by Gabrielle Demestree. Franco hopes to begin shooting this August.
This Friday Night Lights fan has been on the edge of my bleacher seat waiting for the official word that a movie is coming to a theatre near me. Until then, I’ll take the updates from the field.
