MTV Movie Award Nominations: Vampires, Wizards and Black Swans!

The nominations for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards have been announced, and Twilight dominated with eight nominations including Best Movie. Its competition in that category includes Inception (seven nominations), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I (six nominations), The Social Network (5 nominations) and Black Swan (4 nominations). As you may have noticed, three of those films were Oscar-nominated, which is unusual for the MTV Movie Awards, which features such silly categories as Best Kiss and Biggest Badass Star. That crossover is less so in the acting categories where Oscar-winner Natalie Portman and Oscar-nominee Jesse Eisenberg face off against the likes of teen favorites Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. See the full list of nominees on MTV's website.

The King's Speech Leads 2011 Golden Globe Nominations!

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association kicked off the 2011 award season by announcing the nominations for the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will air on January 16. The King’s Speech nabbed seven nominations, while The Social Network and The Fighter each picked up six.

On the television side, the Best Television Series Comedy or Musical category was dominated by the broadcast networks, with only Showtime’s The Big C and Nurse Jackie representing cable. However, cable series earned all but one of the Best Television Series Drama nominations, which went to Fox’s House. See the complete list of nominations after the jump! READ MORE

PC #07: Make Some Cheddar

On today’s Pop Confidential episode Jamey, Luke and Jillian are joined by guest blogger and reality TV enthusiast Akash Nikolas to discuss the latest in pop culture headlines and scandals, including:

The View’s Whoopi Goldberg vs. The Real Housewives of D.C.’s Salahis. Are the Salahis just media whores or was Whoopi out of place for interrupting the interview? Speaking of talk shows, how long will it be before Rosie O’Donnell and Oprah clash now that Oprah has signed Rosie’s talk show to her OWN network? Also, would any of the PC gang watch a Ty Pennington talk show?

Jersey Shore’s Snooki is arrested and The Situation may be appearing on Fox’s Bones this fall. In other reality TV news Kate Gosselin will be making a guest appearance on Sarah Palin’s Alaska, but you might be surprised which PC member will be tuning in and who won’t.

It turns out that in addition to creating a sex tape to fast track her celebrity Montana Fishburne was arrested for alleged prostitution a year ago. However, Montana isn’t the only celebrity with a sex tape, so does American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, who finds herself in the midst of a cheating husband scandal. READ MORE

Inception Star Tom Hardy Talks About Gay Past

Inception star Tom Hardy told the UK's Daily Mail that he's had sex with men in the past, and that he considers himself more feminine than masculine. The 32 year old engaged (to a woman) father of one showed uncommon frankness and sensitivity on issues of gender and sexuality:

Asked if he'd ever had any sexual relations with other men, the broody actor said: 'As a boy? Of course I have. I'm an actor for ****'s sake. I've played with everything and everyone. I love the form and the physicality, but now that I'm in my thirties, it doesn't do it for me. I'm done experimenting but there's plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life. A lot of gay men get my thing for shoes. I have definite feminine qualities and a lot of gay men are incredibly masculine.'

Hardy perhaps embodies a positive shift in the contemporary heterosexual man who -- according to New York Times columnist Charles M Blow in a terrific column one month ago -- are becoming more accepting in others, and more fluid in their own identities: READ MORE
