The trailer for the Footloose remake has been released.  The story seems to follow the same plot as the ‘80s classic—a boy who loves to dance (played by newcomer Kenny Wormald) moves to a town where dancing is banned, then falls for the preacher’s daughter (Julianne Hough).   Watch the vid after the jump! TV's Dancing With The Stars and country music sweetheart Julianne Hough has been cast in the remake of Footloose according to Variety. Hough will be starring next to TV's Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford who will be taking over the role that made Kevin Bacon a household name those many years ago (really was it all that long ago? Jeepers I'm getting old!).

Hollywood keeps digging into the past as they search for the next big box office hit of the future. E Online is reporting Hayden Panettiere auditioned for a role opposite of Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford in the upcoming remake of Footloose.

Panettiere, my source says, recently sang for filmmakers (the new Footloose is being turned into a full-blown musical à la the Broadway version). "They were really impressed," the insider gushes. "No one realized what a good singer she is."
