Guiding Light: Mel's Guiding Gossip
I hope everyone is ready for one drama filled, action packed week on Guiding Light. Here is all of Springfield's juiciest gossip, rumors, scoops, and spoilers for the week of June 30th.
Cyrus/Cassie: Cyrus' luck continues to go down hill this week. Not only does he see a “For Rent” sign on Harley house, Josh attacks him for sleeping with Cassie. You know things are bad in Springfield when the preacher is beating people up. On the flip side, Cassie has another breakdown(shocking right?). She goes to Reva and tells her about her one night stand with Cyrus and Josh walking out on her. Cassie is overcome by her emotions and loses it in Reva's arms. She asks Reva for advice on how to salvage her relationship with Josh. Nevertheless, Josh and Cassie must make up fast because at the end of the week they spend a normal day hosting the Bauer Barbeque. No, I'm not kidding and I will speak more about this travesty later.
Josh/Reva: Josh is a ball of emotions this week. After attacking Cyrus, a very upset Josh finds himself at Cross Creek. Reva happens to be there and gives him a shoulder to cry on. The two share a special moment at their old stomping grounds. This moment surely doesn't help Reva get "Always" the movie out of her head. However, the happy times between "Always" doesn't last long because before the week is out they get into a heated argument. What makes Josh and Reva’s tempers go through the roof? Reva cools off by making love to Jeffrey, but what kind? I’ll let your minds wonder.

Bill/Lizzie/Ava/Jeffrey: Fasten your seatbelts, because these four have one hell of a bumpy ride in store for them. Bill and Ava are set to marry, and Lizzie doesn't like it one bit. Apparently, Jeffrey doesn't either because after catching Bill in a compromising position, he tells Lizzie the truth about Ava's baby. That right. On the day before the wedding, Jeffrey tells Lizzie that Ava's baby isn't Bill's but someone's from the sperm bank. Lizzie can't believe her ears. However, that doesn't stop her from telling Bill. When Lizzie tells Bill, he doesn't want to believe her. The man is in absolute disbelief that Ava is even capable of doing something so dirty. Lizzie tells Bill that she is wiling to give him one more chance if he makes things right. While all this is happening, Ava is busy telling Remy she has feelings for him but she is going to marry Bill. Remy has a hard time walking away from her but he does. Flash forward to the wedding day. As the ceremony takes place, Lizzie patiently waits to see if Bill will really go through with the wedding. I suppose her patience wears out because Lizzie opens her mouth before it's all said and done. What does she say? More importantly, will Bill and Ava be wedded in holy matrimony? One last thing on Lizzie, she buys Harley’s house for the Spaulding’s to live in. The Spaulding’s living in Harley’s house….it’s official Hell has frozen over!
Alan/Grady: Grady's confession to Frank has dire consequences for Alan. Alan is arrested for his involvement in Tammy's murder by Mallet. Side note: For a beat cop, Mallet sure does arrest some high profile people. Anyways, Alan doesn't put up a fight while being taken to jail. He decides that it's time to man up and accept his fate.
The Bauer Barbeque: It's time for Springfield's famous Bauer Barbeque! However, when Rick feels too depressed to celebrate, Josh and Cassie decide to host the event. I have tried to stay positive about GL these days but having Josh and Cassie host the Bauer Barbeque is crossing the line. I think it's disrespectful and a downright travesty but I guess I should be happy the event is still happening. Moving on, everyone in Springfield gathers to celebrate Independence Day. Rick must get over his depression pretty quickly, because after having a talk with Beth he ends up manning the grill with Frank and Josh. Speaking of Frank, he warns Marina to stay away from Cyrus now that he and Harley have broken up. All I'm saying is, that didn't work the last time did it Frank? Let's go back to the barbeque for a bit. It wouldn't be a true Bauer event if there wasn't some drama. The big question is who starts it and why?
Sneak Peeks at Next Week (July 7th): Daisy promises Grady something, Ava may be ready to pop as she rushed to the hospital, Cassie sees something that deeply upsets her, Olivia lets Jeffrey have it, Reva and Josh butt heads again.

What? Josh and freakin' Cassie hosting the barbeque? Couldn't they find someone else?
Oh wait, there is no one else because they jettisoned Ed, Michelle & Danny are AWOL, our wonderful Ross Marler is appearing on OLTL and they even killed Fletcher Reede's kid. Even Ben would be preferable to the preacher and his wife. Yuck.
On the bright side (trying hard) the show doesn't sound quite so hideous when you write about it, so good job! The best thing it has going for it is Lizzie and Bill. The Reva movie, maybe, but why in God's name are Cassie and Josh the untouchable couple? Beth Ehlers leaving killed my GL spirit for now, especially after I heard that GL is now being packaged as The Hills. It's so disgusting.
I hope you write something about the BE interview with SOD- she was pretty honest and I think the mass exodus will continue. She is also dead on when she talked about Grant Aleksander being the center of the show and commenting that he was screwed by GL in some way. Too true. Can you imagine Lizzie/Marcy Rylan interacting with dear old dad? Should be fascinating.
But no, we get REMY and G.

You took the words right out of my mouth.
Is the BBQ going to be on Main Street again? They should just eliminate the BBQ. What's the point with no Bauers left? I know Rick is there, but it's not the same without the rest of the family.
I hope Lizzie does some redecorating and actually finishes the house.

How much can a can of paint cost? They have drapes up and yet the drywall still goes unpainted.....but then this is the least of GL's problems.
I'm sorry...why do they even call it the *Bauer BBQ* anymore?
I only stick with GL for Lizzie/Bill...and Dinah.....least they put Reva on .....Cassie & Josh? Please....I so don't care anymore....Mallet & Marina- thats really twisted.....I'll stop now. Poor GL. I have to give the actors that remain lots of kudos for making the place suck a bit less. They deserve way better.
