LOVED it. Peter Bergman is so classy and his passion shines through. Looking forward to the rest. they picked great clips
loved it!!! One by one, all the Abbots showcased.... loved how PB teared up when speaking of JD ( John Abbot Sr).
I am guessing rest of the week will be:
Melody Thomas Scott?
Eric Breadan (sp?)
It was a great way to open the week, Kudos to CBS and Y&R!!
40 More Years!!!
Loved it! It was great listening to Peter reflect on his initial storylines/scenes as well as his views on the Abbotts' relationship/influence upon Jack. Looking forward to additional castmembers doing the same.
OMG this is Y&R we all grew up with...It was so classy and I hope they do one with Jess Walton, because Jill Foster Abbott is the only remaining original character since 1973.
I'm happy that Y&R & GH are both honoring their history and both shows showcasing all this rich history
It's not just showing up on CBS - you can also see the special openings on SOAPNET - I saw it today at the 6pm run of today's episode - what a trip down Memory Lane!!
Jess Walton isn't the original Jill Foster. That title goes to the original diva, Brenda Dickson.
Jess Walton joined Y&R around 1986 or 1987.
I absolutely loved it flashing back to his first scenes as Jack was wonderful...I clearly remember when he did debut. All this week has the biggies, to open up the show this week...this is going to fun!
1titanman said "Jill Foster Abbott" and not Jess Walton when he referred to the character being the only remaining original. Jess is the 3rd actress to play Jill.
I thought the open to yesterdays show was classic and a great way to celebrate the 40th anniversary. I know they have 10 planned to air. It was very nostalgic. I watched Peter Bergmans clip a couple of times.
Haven't seen today's yet, but I'd like for them to take it even a bit further...when PB mentioned replacing "someone you watched for 10 years", they should have shown Terry.
ALL of the actors who played these characters we love should be at least shown. I'd LOVE it if we saw Brenda as Jill in some clip or even "still" photo. It's all part of Y and Rs rich history. I doubt it'll happen though.
It WAS a nice nod to show Ashley and Traci. He should have mentioned Keemo...
No Jill, it's predominantly a sausage festival except for the four token females......supposedly this is who will speak.
Peter Bergman (Jack)
Eric Braeden (Victor)
Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki)
Michelle Stafford (Phyllis)
Christian LeBlanc (Michael)
Joshua Morrow (Nicholas)
Sharon Case (Sharon)
Jeanne Cooper (Katherine)
Doug Davidson (Paul)
Kristoff St. John (Neil)
Daniel Goddard (Cane)
Billy Miller (Billy)
Michael Muhney (Adam)
I think Jeanne Cooper is supposed to cover them in the old woman category. Of course there are no old men, just leading men with full onscreen lives.
I am LOVING the openings celebrating the 40th anniversary! Watched last night on Soapnet Joshua Morrows comments. Kudos to Y & R, for celebrating the 40th anniversary in style.
No disrespect to Daniel Goddard but I can't stand the character of Cane and never would have put him in the top 10. Cane was introduced with no real vision whose back story was modified many times over the years. How is that characters messy history something to fawn over and celebrate? They should have given that slot to one of the vets like Tracy Bregman, Jess Walton or Lauralee Bell.
i would rip my arm off to have one of Jess Walton (OR VICKI ROWELL!!!!!!!!!!) it looks like the list is all people on contract. that probably has something to do with it. goddard not my first choice but he's a dude in a popular couple so i get it.
As long as Dylan doesn't take a turn, I am fine with anyone who's been on the show for a long time.
Jess really should be there. Jill's an original character. I know some of you won't like this, but I'd like to see some flashbacks with Brenda D. included, possibly with Kay. She truly defined the show for much of the time she was on and had some great moments.
Love these openings.
Loved it! Todays was great with Micheal Muhney. So was Peter's. These episodes are amazing. I just hate Marcus Wheeler is departing. His character is great and his blank stares are the way a soap actor are suppose to perform a poker face.
Loved today ( Wednesday's ) show: All I can say is PHACK!
Today's theme was : Spilling Secrets
(a) Jack telling Red he was falling for her all over again ( and that priceless look on her face. )
(b) Adam spilling the beans to Sharon.
(c) Chelsea telling Daisy Dukes she was indeed pregnant...
and (d) what looks like Lauren getting ready to spill the Italian Salami Caper to Big Red...
love it!! just love it!!
OH TraceyAbbott....It's all about PHACK for me...I loved them the first time around and even sweeter this time. PB & MS has all kinds of chemistry going on and they play off another so well. When Jack told Phyllis he was falling in love with her, I stood up and screamed!! Jack: "You won't push me over the edge, maybe over the moon"
Adam seeing Victor\Wheeler together again and trying to "donate" to his campagin to found out info on Victor
Oh gawd Anita knowing Chelsea is pregnant won't end well for Chelsea.
OH...if Lauren does come clean w\Michael...all hell is breaking loose
I didn't enjoy Michael Muhney's retrospective as much. It showcased Maria's handy work and was a reminder of how silly and dumbed down the show was under her. I was mostly cringing as clips and pics were shown of Adam in various scenarios. It was all too silly to take the least bit serious. MM said in his intro, "it's a drama, it's not a happy". I disagree with that. Under Maria it was neither drama or happy, it was all schtick and satire.
I have a feeling Daniel Goddard's is going to play out the same because both these characters were showcased at a low point in the shows other wise illustrious history.
I guess to honor 40 years of television you're gonna be reminded of the good and the bad. C'est la vie.
Restless...I think you're right, Cane & Adam falls under Maria's bloody pin
Beth Maitland contacted me through FaceBook..... how groovy is that!!
She said she is busy tying up some loose ends on other TV projects and I asked her what has become of "The Grove"? I loved her work in that and she said they are gearing up production on new episodes.
I was sure to welcome her back to Genoa City!!!
And I hate to see what happens to Michael once Lauren admits to the great Italian Salami Caper???
For someone who is not wanting to hit the sheets with ole smiling Carmine, she can't keep her eyes off that boy!!!
@Harlee490. I'm a fan of actor Michael Muhney but I wish they would have given those slots to veteran characters. Both these guys are saddled with very cartoon-ish histories. Given the effort the current writers are making to add depth to previously vapid one dimensional characters, I don't know if it's a good idea to remind us how absurd their history has been. Just my opinion.
I loved the shot of Josh lying across the bar at The Underground.
today's opening was with MS: and I loved seeing the older shots of a younger Phyllis ( and her hair??? at her wedding to Jack ).
And early in today's episode, Phyllis is shooting Jack those sly looks and admits she can't imagine life without him!
Chemistry at it's best!!
OHHHHH! we are watching live today...I saw my PHACK's first wedding
Early Phyllis in her redder hair and skin-tight short dresses hemline of Phyllis might have dropped but still sportin' those skin-tight dresses today and...IS looking might fine on Michelle
Nikki & Victor...he's giving her a wedding everyday until she can walk down the isle!
I'm PISSED. it's pre-empted in my area.
though I DO love my college basketball. But still....smh
Stoney...(screaming for you)...it will be on CBS.com by 6pm est to watch
Michelle Stafford's day and she's a rockin'
I had the Pope pre-empt mine yesterday, and even though I'm a "good" Italian/Irish Catholic boy I wanted my Y and R.
I loved Michelle's today, and I LOVED that someone FINALLY mentioned Bill Bell.
CBS still owes him for their Daytime Lineup being in the #1 slot. His soaps are what brought them to the level they still enjoy today.
Harlee...I read the book you have for your pic. Good stuff.
Well I missed yesterday's episode, so I'm playing catch up anyway. But I won't be able to see it tomorrow either.
March damn Madness.
Michelle was guest hostess on today's episode of "The Talk" and on "Bold and Beautiful", they had Eric Forrestor talking to someone on the phone about the " upcoming Nikki and Victor wedding " and that he would be there!
CBS daytime is all up in this 40th Anniversary Party!!!
Hehe..."good" Catholic boy!" Trust me I know, Y&R wasn't pre-empted in our market but double screen. But Dominic is and was raised, school Catholic, we go to Dignity twice a month but the other 2 times we go to my church because I was raised Methodist and just don't get the whole Pope thing...I couldn't get Dom away from the TV that day, it was a long day to say in the least
@pferrando @ harlee490 I too am a "good" catholic boy. I was happy Y&R was not pre-empted in Denver. I watched those old papal queens pick their new grande dame from my computer at work.
Way off topic, but since we are talking "church" I was an alter boy and so was the husband. We always laugh at the way the Catholic church dresses their priests. ACTUALLY I had to dress the priest back in the day.
