Sara Bibel's Interview JFP on 40th!!!
This a great interview Sara did w\JFP and how Y&R is different but admits it needed updated look a "facelift" in production, sets, wardrobe, music, etc. She talked about the 40th coming up
Jill says:
"There’s been a lot of talk today about making the show sexier. How are you planning to “sex up” the show?
Well, I think if you look at the group of people who are here, by looking at them you can see that will just happen. Love stories are inherently stories that involve sexing it up, and I love love stories"
It's a great team Josh\JFP...he wrote the love stories and Jill executed it for our TVs and doing a hellva' of job!

I'm so pumped for the 40th this month, Y&R has good energy going into this anniversary, ratings are climbing once again they are listening to fans.

It was a good interview. Everyone should read it.
I do like most of the changes Jill has made to Y&R. I'm still not digging the music. I do like a lot of the new original scores but it's those ghastly songs they keep playing that ruin scenes for me. How could the show that brought us the likes of Il Divo and Chris Botti for talent bog us down with lame songs most of us have never heard?
That being said, I think the entire team has done an admirable job making Y&R a show that is worthy of it's number 1 status again. Kudos to all!
Harlee and Restless, I agree.
I don't agree with everything Jill said however.
There are some things that DON'T look any different. The lighting, camera work and most sets and music did not need to be overhauled. The look of the show still is Y and R, which I appreciate hasn't changed.
We all know it was the writing. And THAT is what she and Josh can take credit for. I am really grateful.
I like a couple of the new sets, but I like the Athletic Club ( and so do they apparently as the Blvd. has all but disappeared), Jabot, Kay's house...I'm glad she didn't trash it all.
Like Restless, I too am not a fan of her score, but the show is kicking it again with stories and characters that make sense.
I despise the music but overall the show has improved.
Yes I'm more of 40/60 on music. Some I've liked but some I can't stand.
I haven't seen much difference in camera work, the wardrobe, hair, makeup has definitely improved in a big way. Lighting not much but softer maybe. Some sets did need updating, but on The Blvd has been missing of late but I do like that set. All sets have strunk...budget...Mrs. C's estate shows it the most because it used to big much much bigger, the only that hasn't changed much is the Abbott mansion.
It does need good story that's the start but good writing needs have good, clear vision to project on the screen and that is where Jill understands what Josh is writing and she is in charge of producing the stories for fans. Both are accomplishing this for the viewers. CBS isn't ABC and didn't want another rehash of GH from Jill but more in the style of CBS daytime as she gave us during her GL years and she's delivering the goods
Thank sweet Jesus
Thank you soap gods for giving fans this team and returning Y&R to gold standard of daytime drama

I love their 40th Anniversary pic!
Jess should have been in front though!
