Peter Porte in New Diet Pepsi Commercial

Was watching the Grammys last night and caught a new(?) Diet Pepsi commercial with Sofia Vergara and the closest thing I think I've seen to walking perfection, Peter Porte(ex-Ricky, Y&R). Christ that man is even more swoon-worthy than he was when he was on the show(and now complete with a sexy-as-hell five o'clock shadow). Another reason why MAB should have NEVER been put in charge of that show; a complete waste of talent who could out-sexy any of JFP's newly-hired goons......I mean, guns with his eyes closed.
OK, Chris. That was a worthy endorsement of him. But he was also a great actor, who really encaptured the angst and wrath of someone who felt neglected by his father all of his life. It was believable that Ricky cast his lot with his Mother, and mis-internalized his anger.
How much better Ricky could have been as soave and smooth rung-grabber? Pairing him with someone like Abby, would have cemented him in both the Newman and Abbott orbits, and helped both characters immensely. It would have given Abby the Fire-trUCK worthy leading man that she so richly deserved as Ashley's daughter. INstead of having her wander aimlessly from Daniel to Devon to Carmine, and then gone, she would have been at the mercy of the great villain Ricardo Williams.
Instead MAB killed him off. We have Ricky dead, Adriana, and now, Jamie is bad and Fen is good.
yes, Y & R has the hottest men, as I always miss Mr. Porte...
@hey mon--You're right about his talent. While I tend to go on about my (un)healthy lust for the man's physical attributes, he was indeed just more than a stunning face and body and one of the very few casting decisions that MAB got right during her tenure(I'd add Stacy Haiduk to that extremely small list also).
And yes, there were numerous ways he could've been weaved into the canvas, whether it be as a hero or someone with more questionable morals(instead of just going the lazy route and making him morally bankrupt and sociopathic).
Credit due is credit due...MAB's casting abilities was good 75% of the time with Abby (one that wasn't keen in aging Abby so many years) proved right, Fen, Chelsea, Chole...for examples...it always came back to story...sigh..those tumultuous years trying to keep faith in this wonderful soap.
Now Bill has past we fans of Y&R were SPOILED ROTTEN with such talent and expected it to continue. It didn't but if I can have 2/3 of story writing style of Bill in Josh I'm a happy camper! 
Yes Bill was good, just enough psychos and crazees, woven in with the plodding day-to-day s/l's, to keep my interest.
Sheila Carter, David Kimble, MaryJo Mason, Rick & Blade Bladeson, Veronica Landers, Matt Clark, semi-lune Keesha Monroe, Tricia Dennison. The great loonies of the 90s of Y&R.
Please Josh, dont forget that we need crazies to keep our interest, too.
Hey Mon...We will have our crazies again but "crazies" dominated the show for 5 years and Y&R fans were DONE with it for the moment. Lets add the forgotten elements of Y&R that was totally ignored and concentrate of rebuilding the foundation...so we can get to cracks of the foundation.
You know hey mon, Bill had balance and his crazies didn't dominate a show but enhanced with edginess.
Bill created some of the best villains in history but the show needs to step back and breath and heal.
I want a "Bill Bell" crazy type character again but not just yet. ..Abby gets a psycho stalker from being the "Naked Heiress"...but set up with long term story as Sheila, David, Shawn, Vanessa, Suzanne, Eve, Matt, Farren and her double life...mmmmm good!
The problem with MAB is that she killed off Ricky, by making him a crazy, the son of a legacy character.
I'm trying, I'm trying, but I really liked the way MAB wrote the Show. Sleazy, crazy, desk-sex, body-doubles. But since JFP/Josh G are trying to establish some Latinos, I will hold my tongue.
ITA..hey mon...she took the character and written him in a corner, and PP was talent and an amazing find.
@harlee490--you're right, I prob should give MAB a little more credit than I do regarding some of her casting decisions(I wasn't crazy about the SORASing of Abby but casting Marcy Rylan completely changed my mind on that). I guess I was thinking about some of the more high-profile casting mistakes she made(Eden Riegel, Genie Francis, Debbi Morgan, etc.)not to mention the ridiculous stunt casting(the nadir for me was Sean Young). But yeah, I can totally get behind you regarding Chloe, Chelsea and Fen.

Chris -- Hilarious was the casting choice of Sean Young (Why am I talking like Yoda?). She was great as Meggie, always looking out of the corner of her eye, pouring vodka into Nikki's drinks. Classic. And then the reveal that she killed Murph's son. Go MAB!
Just saw the Diet Pepsi commcercial with Sofia and Peter. The ladies of the house are definitely noticing that guy.
