LML gave us some good stories, and then some bad. She brought back Sheila in a major successful way in late 2005 to torture Lauren, then stupidly killed her off when Sheila came back as Phyllis. DUMB!
She brought on Gloria Fisher to be John Abbott's wife, then killed off John Abbott, which was a big mistake. When she realized her stupidity, she tried to have con-artist Alister make a 4-month stint. Stupid.
Having Drucilla face mental illness was a great story-line, and kept Vicky Rowell where she belonged, right square in front of the camera. The Murder of Carmen was a great s/l, and satisfied everyone. Action for those of us who like action, and diva drama as only Rowell can deliver.
State senate story-line. Why not? At least it was new. At least Nicole was able to get out from Victor's thumb. Freedom for Nikki, and she's going back into bondage next month. Sad! Nicole was almost in the state Senate! Nicole was the Chairwoman of NVP. The prime mover behind Clear Springs. Then the CEO of Jabot. Why not? LML had Nikki being more than the town drunk, or Victor's senseless frau.
Lynn Latham was not on the show in 2005, so she had nothing to do with the last successful Sheila Carter story. That was Kay Alden and John Smith. The one she did was the Pheila crap that I hated...and the reason why Sheila Carter will probably NEVER return. I do agree that the whole Sheila torturing Lauren in 2005 was really good, ending up on the yacht with Terrible Tom, and then Michael believing Lauren was dead until she walked into the chapel....god....if I want anyone to write Y&R, why can't Kay Alden and John Smith return?????
Aren't they both like associate writers or something on B&B? Since they recycle scripts, there should be enough time for them to headwrite Y&R, though I think Josh Griffith is the best writer we've had SINCE them...
With B and B being just a half hour, I'd love to see Kay back and thrilled if Jack came back. Why is it that Bloom fired them? They were in her way? They had too much allegiance to Bill...Shameful, but VERY obvious. Kay kept the show on course. If she had never left, just imagine all the crap the fans wouldn't have had to put up with. And I can guarantee the Abbotts would still be a HUGE presence, including BOTH Ashley and John. Would love to see her back as "co" with Josh, but I doubt it'll happen.
Bloom gave LML the title of Exec Producer/HW aka she had the power by Grayskull.
LML was the one who gave them the axe. Jack was first and then Kay and then everyone else pretty much on the writing staff.
Boils my blood to think of the damage that has never been undone after that woman, those women, ruined the best soap of all time. By firing Kay and Jack, it was a huge F YOU to Bill Bell, his legacy, and the Y and R family.
According to Wikipedia LML started off as a Creative Consultant following Head Writer Job than she moved as Executive Producer. 05-07
Everything you all said about LML is true and she had not 1 good story to tell. I wish Y&R would do a Dallas it was all a dream that John Abbott never died, Drucilla never leap over a cliff falling into a stream and something other things.
I wish Sony would have the balls to bring Kay Alden & Jack Smith back in some capacity. However there was this interview Kay Alden did and you all should listen to it. She provides alot of insight. http://cms.mit.edu/news/2007/05/love_may_not_be_in_the_afterno.php
So now what have we learned about the daytime industry over the last few years. That whatever show runner/producer/head writer/executive they go from show to show or network to network. They will always have a job for their friends on the side. No matter how much they screw daytime there will always be a job for those that have butcher this genre-
stoney07 -- You're right. I forgot. LML came right in after Shelia was shipped off to the loony bin, right after torturing Lauren. Kay Alden, Trent Jones, and John Smith did do a great job with Y&R just before LML came onto the scene, although I do remember Jones leaving before that.
Sheila Carter, the most beautiful, sexy, misunderstood woman in Daytime.
Like a lot of other Y&R fans, I like to indulge in the hope that the "It was all a dream" scenario that Dallas so famously used could be done to erase LML's "work". For me, it would mean that Colleen, Brad, and John did not die.
Thing is though that in order to reset the show back to the time before all those unfortunate deaths happened they'd also have to bring back Raul, Britney, Bobby Marcino, Mackenzie, Larry Warton, Ji Min, the guy whose corpse Sharon was dragging around in the sewer(I forget his name),Carmen Mesta, and DRUSILLA, in addition to Colleen, Brad, and John. The reality is that it would be impossible to get all those actors back.
Like it or not, we're stuck with the fall-out from LML's tenure.
Exactly!!! And actually I believe it was MAB who killed Brad and Colleen. Brad died I believe in 2009, and maybe Colleen in 2010???
And yeah, I've always said the "It was just a dream" thing wouldn't work because you'd have to bring back all those you named, plus get rid of a lot of other characters. It would take some doing, but it could be POSSIBLE. I just doubt that TPTB would be willing to do that much work.
MAB killed Brad and Colleen to totally re-make Abby as a Newman, not as a Carlton, as she had been perceived before. Bad MAB. As soon as Brad was gone, Ashley really never was able to have her 'true love' again on The Show, and Tucker certainly was not able to fill that gap.
It has always bothered me that LML killed off Ji Min. First they created a character that REALLY clicked with Jill, made them totally loyal to each other, and then she killed him off. Bad LML.
She was the downfall and destruction of Y&R. Clear Springs, David Chow, Carmen Mesta (+doppelganger Inez), Adrian Korbel, Amber's horrid storylines with Plum and the money, the SENATE RACE (omg!), Victoria in a coma for months, breaking up Nikki and Victor, Jana Hawkes. Horrid horrid horrid.
Btw, it is as plain as day that Joshua Morrow and all the others on Twitter are sucking up to SB. They're scared shitless for their jobs and they know Steve is buddy-buddy with their boss. Why did no other arriving actor received this kind of attention? "Star status" doesn't make people like someone, actually usually the opposite, but fear of losing their own job does. Lol.

Give me LML now!

Yeah, I don't know why when it was decided to replace Maria that they had to bring in Josh and Jill.
Kay and Jack would have been the better choice.
I think LML's true genius is in primetime.

This would get me to start actually caring about the show again *sigh*

LML was the UTMOST WORST ever.

It's nice to see my thread take off even if it's not exactly on topic, lol. It is about Y&R.
