Has anyone else noticed how frequently God is being mentioned on "Days" lately? In Friday's episode, He was name-dropped by Kristen DiMera, John Black, Nicole Walker and Rafe Hernandez. I wonder if it's a set-up for Eric Brady's return.

Speaking of name dropping God, what's up with Nick Fallon and his lame excuse for why he's so spooked by Sonny and Will? I have a theory, which I share at the end of my latest blog post: http://jeremyhelligar.blogspot.com/2012/11/conservative-religious-hypocr....

I wonder if "Days" would go there. It worked with Michael Corinthos on "General Hospital"....

I am sure that all the God name dropping is just preparing us for Father Eric Brady. LOL I just thought of that Sami's twin is a priest. Does that make her a demon? As for Nick's sudden God issues, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Murder, embezzlement, theft, and fornication are all sins the last time I looked. Some of them are biggie top tens! I am gonna say now that the Bible, if taken literally has WAY more to say about nonmarrital sex than about men having sex with eachother.
In fact, I doubt that Jesus would be that happy with anyone's behavior in Salem. The LEAST offender being Sonny. As far as I can tell, the only sin that boy has on his list is sex outside of marriage with another man. And that is probably just because it isn't legal to marry a man (by the way, the Bible doesn't say anything about gay marriage one way or another In fact the marriage vows in the Bible are in the Book of Ruth and the vows were to Naomi from Ruth both women and are the only marriage vows in the Bible). In fact except for some recent rewritten verses, the word homosexual is not in the Bible nor was the word or anything like it available. Any Bible that has that word in it has been inserted in it by conservative Christian groups that WANT the word in there. Not because it was there previously. Anyway,
I do not mind a general sense of religion and spiritiality on Days. It really has always been there. Dr Tom and Alice were devout Christian protestants. Their daughter converted and became a nun for a while. So God had been a common conversation years ago. I don't see why God can't be talked about today. Heck Marlena was possessed by the devil and the devil cast out in the name of Jesus 15 or so years ago. John Black spent many years as a priest. So I kind of like people to have religions and political views etc. It makes for a more well rounded and realistic character. And if someone (such as Nick) missuses the Bible or God to justify prejudice, they should be confronted. As I would in real life when people try to push their misguided beliefs on me.

There is no way that Days would have Nick Fallon turn out to be a victim of rape in order to explain his disapproval of homosexuality being a result of the trauma he suffered. The writing for this show (especially the current writing) is just not that deep.

He found religion in prison and his religion tells him that gay sex is sinful. It's just that simple. You'd think that his religion would tell him that all that hot pre-marital sex he and Gabi are having is also sinful. But it's much more common for Christians to be selective about what parts of their bible they follow than not.

This same team was on OLTL and made Joey "Father Joe" and it was done pretty bad with the NuJoe they had cast which didn't last long.

@SoapArmageddon: Now that sounds like an Agnes Nixon style story. Play the "Born again" Christian vs the confident gay guys. Agnes would tell both sides of the story equally. She always felt it was best not to lead the audience in any one direction, but to make them think about their views, wherever they lie. To always see the other person's point of view. And through character interactions and situations that test the characters own views the audience can learn from it.

I would like to see this go with ol' girl being impregnate with Will's child and Nick wanting to raise the child in a Christian home, thus working to prove that Will's "lifestyle" made him unfit to be a parent.

Now that would be a socially relevant storyline as gay marriage is an important topic in the minds of Americans.

This scene from All My Children shows where I'd like it to go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8EZOuIcALI

I agree with everything you say, marknsprmo. And "Days" HAS always had that religious element. But I have noticed that it's been more pronounced in recent weeks. In general, it doesn't bother me, but Nick's reasoning for his homophobia, true to life though it might be, really infuriated me. And I hate that when Gabi made her comment about whether straight people choose to be straight, Nick didn't even acknowledge it.

SoapArmageddon, you are probably right. I'd really like "Days" to go there, though. Maybe it was just Blake Berris's acting choices, but there is something very creepy, almost sinister, in the way Nick reacts to Will and Sonny.

david46208, I have a feeling that this story will end up being all about Gabi's pregnancy. After suffering through the Dan/Jen/Nicole/Rafe/EJ stuff, I don't think I can handle yet more baby drama so soon, but delving into the social angle would definitely make it more interesting.

This whole storyline is somehow making me uneasy and not interested at the same time - that can't be good, right?

First thing what I hate about this is Gabi Hernandez. How can that "CHARACTER" still be on the show??? She is so dull and should be pay for her crimes. And now suddenly she is the lead actress of the teen storyline, in the next generation of the Bradys??? Oh get real! If this was Molly Burnett or Kate Mansi (if Will and Abigail weren't cousins) THEN I would get it. But this chick?

Second - this had better end up being all about Wilson being the supercouple with Nick and Gabi propping them, and NOT the other way around! I swear to God, if they try paint Nick and Gabi as some sort of suffering couple and treat Wilson as an afterthought, the boards are gonna flame up.

I have never liked or been interested in either Nick or Gabi, so in that sense it is perfectly okay for them to get together. I can FF through both with ease. But do not mess with my Wilson.
