Kay was a writer in some capacity on Y & R from '75 through mid 2000's. She'd restore sanity to Genoa City.

This would be a great move for the show. I know there were complaints (when are we soap fans ever 100% satisfied? LOL) when she and Jack Smith were heading the show, mainly b/c it was them who made Katherine and Jill mother and daughter, but honestly that was the best post-Bell era Y&R has had.

Who's the idiot that was responsible for killing off Brad Carlton and John Abbott? I so miss the days of The Y&R when Brenda Dickson was Jill. That's when The Y&R was at it's prime. They need to bring back Victoria Rowell and quick. Debbie Morgan is no Victoria Rowell. Not even close. I have nothing against Jess Walton but if they brought back Brenda Dickson then that would be amazing. No one can play Jill like Brenda Dickson.

It would be awesome to get Kay Alden back. I hope this happens. Maybe she could even join Josh Griffith as co-head after Hogan Sheffer's contract ends.

And as for KA back at Y&R.. I'd love it. She's been wasted on B&B, she's probably bored to death, copying and pasting the same scripts from day to day. I'm sure that can get tiresome.

I think (now this is just my own speculation) but I THINK Kay Alden was writing for Y&R during the Glow By Jabot days, Mac and Billy, that whole Nikki/Diane/Ashley/Victor/Jack sperm-gate thing, the introduction of Kevin Fisher, the last viable Sheila Carter story, Michael and Lauren's wedding and "explosive" honeymoon, Brittany Hodges stripper storyline, Bobby Marsino, the Devon adoption story (even tho it was VR's idea), Cassie's death (which was beautifully done), Nikki and Victor's last tolerable reunion and wedding at the Colonnade Room , Tricia Dennison shooting Ryan at the altar, etc.....all of that was between the '98 and '06 era when she was headwriter of the show. And I must say, that was one of my most FAVORITE periods of Y&R. Sure, a lot of people didn't like the Sperm saga, and it was quite twisted...BUT, it was lightyears ahead of anything I've seen on Y&R in quite a while, and it produced one of Y&R's best catfights...between Nikki and Diane....HEHEHE

Ms. Alden trained under Bill Bell and was there for just about everything.

The year 2000 (Glow By Jabot) remains my favorite year of the show since I started watching in 1991.

I'll never forget how thrilled I was when I read in SOD in 1998 that Bill had made her head-writer at the Y&R Emmy Pre-Luncheon. Of course, I didn't know at the time about Bill's illness which is why he was stepping down or I would have felt a little differently about it at the time but happy for her nonetheless.

My fav periods and are MANY from each decade, especially being Co-HW w\Bill, the '70s was Suzanne terrorizing drunk Katherine thinking had killed her, Jill & Kay, Vanessa Prentiss, Lori & Lance, Jennifer's breast cancer story, the '80s was Jill\Kay's best in your face scenes, Jill getting part of Jabot, Jack (Terry Lester) and Diane, Lauren & Paul, Victor & Nikki, Rose Deville and Nina baby story. '90s was Nikki & Jack, Nina & psycho David falling into the trash compactor, Sheila, Dru & Neil, Liv's aids scare, Diane & Nikki rivalry, Jill & Kay, Nina & Ryan, Victoria in form of HT. '00s Jill & Kay, Sharon & Nick, Cassie's death, return of real Ashley, ED, John & Gloria. Just some stories I loved!

Harlee, isn't it amazing to look back and then see where things started to go wrong...(2006/2007 anyone). I've watched since the mid 70's when I was a kid and always found the stories riveting. Kay please come back!!!

Pferrando, why they were so riveting is because of Bill, Kay and the rest of writing staff. The stories were multi-layered and had great depth. I just touched on some my favorite stories. I was in high school in the '70s and loved Y&R stories. Paul giving Nikki VD, Peggy involved in cult, first story about weight problems was addressed with Joanne and Mrs. C drunk and falling in love with her. Katherine was wrote as a true lush, for years in the '70s, where by the '80s Kay was reformed alcholic. Mrs. C might have fell off the wagon since, not the same as in the beginning years of Y&R, but in the '70s Bill wrote her as a raving alcholic for years. One story in the late '70s after Jill had just gave birth to little Phillip and Jill & Kay fighting and in a drunken rage went to take Phillip out of Jill's arms (she was trying to gain custody)before Jill had money and knocked Phillip out of Jill's arms and was dropped on his head!!! That's when Kay started to take AA seriously, most people wouldn't know this and was why Kay started treatment unless you watch back then in the early start of Y&R. ( I miss those days of good soap!! Geez, CBS soaps were rockin' with there line-up!

I wish those episodes were available somehow...but I heard they used to "wipe" the tapes and reuse them.

I remember an episode where Vanessa thinks she's shot Laurie. It's storming and she hears someone pounding on the door to be let in. When the camera pans to the door Vanessa sees Laurie standing in the rain annoyed and yelling at her to unlock the door. Vanessa is stunned because she knows she's shot someone else. Turns out it's her own son, Lance. Bill and Kay used to write some awesome stuff.

Unlike a lot of the people I see posting, I absolutely love the classic Y and R that would have two characters talking, arguing, whatever in a 5-7 minute scene. I hate a lot of today's fast paced storylines that come from nowhere.

Some of my all time favs are just Jill and Kay. I loved Brenda back in those days.
