Phyllis Newman should be the focal point of all new Openings. It could start with the classic 'fuzzy montage' of Michelle Stafford looking at the camera, then blend into Mike Grazdei as Daniel panning camera left, worrying about his Mom. The next scene would be Josh Morrow showing Nick as he looks at the camera and then down at family pic of Phyllis and the kids (the new Summer 2012 of Summer, not the Spring 2012 little girl Summer). Then the next scene could be the new Summer staring at a mirror as she holds up a photo of her Mom, as she wishes she looked more like her. And the last montage would be Chris LeBlanc arguing with Phyll at the Coffee House, as it slowly blends into Lauren sitting across the table with her friend Red.
Opening #2. Starts off with Michelle Stafford looking eerily into the sky, as we see quick dusty montages of Phyll throughout the years. Jack looks down at photos of his family at the Abbott mansion, and grins as he sees one of Red and himself. As Nikki thinks of new son Nick, she smirks as she sees a pic of Nick and Phyll on her coffee table...

Surely this is sarcasm at its best! BARF BAG PLEASE!
I listened to the Soap Series on blogtalkradio.com last night and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) was asked the question by two people who called into the show last night about when the new opening sequence will begin and she said that she didn't know when it would start. She was also told that a couple of cast members had told fans that it would be the week of July 4 and as we all know by now, that never happened. I did get a peek at Monday, July 9th's episode and they are still using the old open.
Daniel Goddard stated in an interview that the opening sequence is going to be an update to the current opening. So it is not going to be entirely new. Just additions from the cast that is absent.

Then it begs the question, why did Daniel Goddard and Michael Muhney lead fans to believe at the outset that the show was doing a totally brand new opening?! So far, I have yet to see any of the cast additions show up in the current opening sequence. I think MAB just yanked the rug out from under the show's fans who absolutely cannot stand her just to stick it to them!
Pathetic.
It's already been said by some of the cast members that the opening will air the week of July 4th....
??????????????????
