Should Will blame Sami for not knowing he's gay on "Days"?
Thank God for gay teens coming out of the closet, namely one Will Horton, who, on any day he's on, makes Days of Our Lives must-see TV. He even makes all that nonsense about Faberge eggs and Mad World Cosmetics tolerable. But Will portrayer Chandler Massey, who will take the Outstanding Younger Actor Daytime Emmy come June 23, if there's any justice in the soap world, doesn't get all the credit.
He has sturdy support from Deirdre Hall (as his grandmother Marlena), Alison Sweeney (as his mom Sami), Bryan Dattilo (as his dad Lucas) and James Scott (as his mentor/nemesis/former stepdad EJ DiMera), as well as some of the best dialogue ever uttered in daytime. On the May 15 and 16 episodes, in which Will finally came out to his parents, the writing was so good, I had to take notes.
The one aspect of the show that I found most interesting was the one I'd never before considered: Is it really a mother's responsibility to know that her child is gay?...

Thank God? Are you freaking kidding? God says so many places in the Bible that gay is wrong, do you really believe God who created man and woman is pro gay? Being gay is a slap in the face to God from Satan. What the hell is the world coming to?
jezza-you are so right about Days and Will's story. You took notes,I watched the scenes 3 times each.I just found it so riveting.Lucas understanding, but concerned, asking questions that I would ask.
As for Sami and if mothers would know,I would guess it would depend on the family dynamic and how close they are.I can't answer because my son is not gay. But,I know when he is troubled, and try to help him.Hopefully you may get answers from others on site.
I think his coming out just came at the wrong time.Sami's betrayal had Will at a point where he could not relate to her.Marlena and Sonny were his safe harbors.Had the anger not been there and Smai not concerned with her own secret it might have been different.
SoapGod - Your ignorance and hate make me nauseous. I always enjoy when people talk for God and claim to know what God thinks or feels. The bible was written by men, not God. The bible supports lots of horrible things, like slavery and the domination of women by men, so I don't have a problem thinking that the men who wrote the bible took liberties with God's message.
Jezza - Loving the Will story. He is an infectious young actor, and the story is pulling all of my heart strings. I'm missing Sonny in all of this, though.
I love how realistic both of the reactions were, and they were quite true to the characters. I understand how Sami felt, having seen my mom react in a similar way (without running out of the room, though), and I also understand Will's frustration with her. I'd like to see them mend their relationship as the animosity is becoming exhausting to watch, and yes, Sonny does need to be more of a presence in this story.
