So, from what I've gathered...

-John and Marlena return for the dedication of the Horton Town Square
-John is still in a wheelchair recovering from his paralysis
-John's return to American soil is highly anticipated by someone (the US government?) >> This is an umbrella story that will pull in other characters
-John and Marlena will share a classic strawberries-and-cream love scene (from Deidre's twitter)

More tidbits: Carrie and Austin are integral to John and Marlena's story (hmmm, could it be because both couples have spent the past few years living in Switzerland?). In addition, a few other couples will also be involved in their story, which has to do with a big event and how each couple perceives it.
