Way back in 2004, I bought "Volume 12" on DVD and only just got around to watching it earlier this month. I loved it!!! I loved the stories, the characters, the cheesy special effects, but most of all I loved how moody and atmospheric it was. I liked David Collins quite a bit and Barnabas of course. I think Elizabeth Stoddard trapped in her sarcophagus inspired James E. Reilly to write his "Buried Alive" stories on Days and Passions.
I wonder how well the new Johnny Depp/Tim Burton movie will translate the show. I love Tim Burton and I think the movie will be great, but I can't help thinking Dark Shadows will always be best as a serialized television show rather than a film. Maybe they will do a DS trilogy.
