Rumor has it Ronan fakes Chance's death and Cricket places him in the witness protection program, thus ushering John Driscoll off the canvas.

I could live with that. No death of a legacy character and would add some drama between Ronan and Nina when chance eventually returns
As long as Chance doesn't die for REAL, I am fine!!!!!! I have had it with Maria Bell killing off legacy characters willy-nilly!!!!!!
I hate Chance as played by John Driscoll, but I don't want them to kill off Nina and Phillip's son, the Chancellor heir.
Of course, Nina and Phillip could have another child together through IVF, but it wouldn't be the same.
I was never impressed with John Driscoll acting skills at all. He is rather mediocre and sometimes I find his intense scenes to be rather laughable and he is like the anti-chemistry. I hope they just write him out and bring him back a few years later and with a different actor.
John Driscoll has been a bore in the role but the writing has been dreadful for Chance. I'm not sure any actor could make Chance something we cared about with this writing. After pretty much watching Little Philip grow up on screen until he was a teen they just ruined his come back with this ridiculous story of a 30 year old virgin. I want Chance to stay away for awhile and then come back in a couple years with a new actor when a new writing regime has taken over on Y&R.
Hi,
I too was not impressed with this guy either.. They should go after Daniel Cosgrove who plays Chris Hughes on As the World Turns. He actually has a good acting style and well is cute.
Daniel Cosgrove is way too old to be Tricia Cast's son. They are like the same age.
Yeah, they need to find someone in his early 20s to replace Chance IF they choose to go down this road in the future. But unless they are gonna give the character a PERSONALITY, he might as well stay off the canvas indefinitely. There's already too much DEAD weight in Genoa City!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff Branson is only ten or eleven years younger than Tricia Cast...they don't seem to care about ages when they cast roles!
They could try for Van Hansis for the role. He'd be about the perfect age & he can make the crap they gave him at ATWT & make it gold. He played a 22 year old there.
Van Hansis playing a STRAIGHT character???? LOL!! Yeah, he's an actor who has undoubtedly played heterosexual characters before, I don't know if I am ready for that!!!! The gay man in me doesn't want to see him playing romantic scenes with anyone who doesn't have a Y-chromosome.
Plus, Van Hansis comes across as being SLIGHTLY younger than John Driscoll, even though I think they're the same age in real life. Of course, Y&R doesn't care about the chronological ages of it's characters, as witnessed by them hiring Maura West to play a 50+ year old character.
I do want to see Van return to the soap world soon, so if he has to kiss girls, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it.
They should've had Chance be gay from the get-go. It was extremely suspicious that he came back as an adult virgin. The fact that he banged ugly Heather makes his sexuality even more suspicious.
Well wasn't Nina 15 when she had her baby? So the math really isn't that far off
Tricia Cast was twenty at the time..not sure how old Nina was supposed to be.
But Ronan/Aidan's SORASed age is 30...when Chloe facebook stalked him, his birthday was revealed to be August 12, 1980.
I love JD when he was on GL,but they ruin him when they paired him with Chloe and make him a virgin and now they are doing away with the character it is such a shame.
They should have let him interact with all of GC and put him with someone that would make his pairing work for him.I am just sad to see him leave the writing for him was bad.
JD was a bore on GL, too. I don't really see the problem with making him a virgin. His acting style is so bland and stoical and he has zero charisma. He had chemistry with like no one on screen. Even that one scene with Vail Bloom, there was no spark.
Him being a virgin was not the problem, the problem was he didn't have really good chemistry with the rest of the cast. After that everything else went down hill.
I think he was an alright actor, but If he is out, I won't really miss him.
Now with VH playing a straight character on here, I think it could work, I mean look at James Sutton. He was on Hollyoaks first as John Paul Mcqueen (think UK version of Luke Synder), then left that show and joined Emmerdale as straight heartthrob Ryan Lamb, where he is currently involved with a big 'who dun it' storyline where all the blame is being pushed off on him, even though it was his step-mother that did it! LOL
His being a virgin was definitely part of the problem. It made him a weirdo from the get-go and impossible to relate to.
Chance was suppose to be in his early 20s. While being a virgin at that age is rare, it is certainly not unheard of. Chance was also very conservative, lived in the midwest, and him being virgin was not a shocker. I don't see how being a virgin makes you unrelatable. And who can relate to any of these characters?
What kind of world do you live in where it's normal to be a virgin at that age??? Chance is not in his early twenties. He's in his mid 20s. It's one thing for a woman that age, like Mac, to be a virgin, but it's creepy when it's a guy like Chance. Ultimately, it alienated the audience and that's why Chance is leaving the show. Hopefully he'll come back down the line played be a new actor and given a new personality. No more Dudley Do-Right!
Tricia Cast is only 45 right now. If Ronan was born in 1980 she would have been 15. But that is changing history. Nina was not on Y&R in 1980. She started the show in 1986. I think the character was slightly younger than Tricia at the time. Of course tv shows always make their vet cast much older than they should. If they wouldn't age their characters children so quickly, they would be able to keep their vet cast more romantically viable. Who wants to watch grandma kissing grandpa?
Nina was written into the show as already having a child.
And anyway, Chance's problem wasn't being a virgin. I'm a straight male and I have a couple of male friends that are virgins that are in their LATE twenties. I know a woman who is 45 who is a virgin. Yeah, they are rare cases but alas...it happens. And I thought it made him unique and he could have been a good character...I just didn't care for the actor.
And this past story just solidified that CHance was dead weight to me. Another actor would better suit it for ME
^^ Nina was pregnant when she debuted on the show, but "Ronan"/Aidan hadn't been born yet.
I predicted Chance wasn't really dead and that he'd be entering witness protection weeks ago, and I was proven right!
Chance was such a snore, a Dudley Do-Right virgin played by a bland actor who was given terrible material to work with. But Chance is Nina and Phillip's son, a legacy character, the Chancellor heir, so I am glad he's not really dead. I have a feeling Chance will eventually return played by a new actor and going by Phillip again.
Hopefully her romance with Paul and the presence of Ronan keeps Nina on the show for a very long time. I imagine Ronan will soon be switching to his "real" name of Aidan Lansing, and he and Nina will attempt to forge some sort of relationship in the wake of Chance's "death". It would be nice to see Nina's mother Flo again---why wasn't she at the funeral or at least mentioned?
I like that Nina, Phillip, Cricket, and Ronan are the ones keeping Chance's secret, but I really wish Jill could know too. She doesn't deserve to mourn her only grandson only to find out he's alive, which is exactly what happened with her son Phillip. Wonder if Chance's secret will create tension between Nina and Paul or her and Heather and Chloe.
As far as stories go, I imagine Ronan's biological father will soon arrive in Genoa City and get involved in a love triangle with Nina and Paul.
I have fond memories of the young actors who played little Phillip in the 90s so I am happy that Chance didn't end up like poor Colleen.
