Today we had the introduction of a new character on Y&R. Maria's "sassy" new black character Sophia. What are your thoughts on the character and acting?

I think the acting was ok. She can roll her neck, like most black women except for a certain actress, but not sure if I will like the character. I don't see any chemistry with Neil so I hope they don't put her in a triangle with the Winters brothers. Sophia is apparently Falcolm's fiance. Which one question that I have to ask is Sophia hasn't seen her fiance in 7 months and she doesn't seem to be too bothered by it. I am assuming she would have to know who Neil is since it's her fiance's brother.

I will give her some time but my first impressions weren't the best. What's your first impressions of Sophia? Did anyone see that eye shadow? Yeah.....

What's popping, Smitty-Smit!  I like that girl!  She's smart and was very firm, but not nasty, with Neil and Kay.  CI has been in the background far too long, so maybe her suggestions for a more contemporary campaign will be good for the company. I saw poise, professionalism, and a side of fire there.  Any rough edges with acting can be chalked up to getting her first day footing.  Yeah, that eyeshadow was a bit much, but I iked her dress, and at least the hair dept. got her weave correct.

I'm gonna have to get used to her, but I like her so far. In terms of vivacious and sassy women being active on the canvas, she was NOT the actress that I REALLY wanted to see mixing things up with Malcolm and Neil, of course, but I'll take it. I am sure she'll do a marvelous job, and any added flavor this show can get is a plus.

I like Sophia. She is sassy, smart and seems to be perfect for the character. I really enjoy she and Malcolm's interaction.

If both her and Malcolm were recast I would shed no tears. You can't go from Mr. Moore to this and expect a warm reception. So when you don't feel him, there's no feeling her, not her fault!

Was the "Sophia" character supposed to be the vehicle for Drucilla's return (i.e. as amnesiac Sophia)? Granted, it's a little sick for Malcolm to fall in love with a woman identical to Drucilla, but this is Y&R...

I like her except she does not dress and act like any executive woman I know.

You have to check how you speak, how you dress and always be better than any man, to get to that level!

I liked her but she does not dress and act the part when in meetings!

I understand where you're coming from TIMEPASS, but I love that Sophia is not what anyone would write as a "traditional" CFO (see Ashley Abbott). I would expect a "maverick" like Tucker to hire someone as feisty as Sophia.

Yes, the girl's got curves...and instead of trying to hide them, she (well, the costume designers) shows off her features to their best advantage. How is this any different than Victoria, Sharon, or Phyllis showing off their cleavage and svelte figures?!?!!?

While we've seen Sophia connecting with the Winter's family, the character DOES change the register of her vocabulary when she's in the business world - as she should.

I completely agree with you, a woman has to "always be better than any man" in the corporate world...Sexual Politics would be an AWESOME storyline for Y&R to tackle.

I agree cece and I always comment on how ridiculously Phyllis is dress in her work environment!

I know voluptuous woman who dress with suits that are very original, colourful and let the woman be shown!

I want Sophia to stay original BUT still a business woman!

The wardrobe department has to be more believable; its their job and they don't do a great job on Y&R!
