A CBS Soap Magazine is reporting that Clem Ford will be leaving Y&R.
And I'm doing the "Thank You" dance! LOL

God I hope this is true!!!!!!!!!!
Okay,
First of all, if it is true, I am dancing RIGHT along with you, Matealestimo--
Heck, I might even get out my dancing shoes for this.
Second of all, what took these idiots so long to realize how badly she SUCKS???
Third of all, where is Amelia Heinle's pink slip at????
Fourth of all, where is Maria Bell's pink slip at?????
While we're at it, where is Darius McCrary's pink slip?
I think that Darius McCrary is a good actor who was just unfortunately cast in the WRONG role on Y&R!! If he had been cast on another role, people would see how talented and versatile he really is. I have seen a few of his movies, and he's wonderful.
Maria Bell just needs her butt whooped for casting him as Malcolm, and for bringing on all these new actors to do nothing more than sit on the sidelines twiddling their thumbs.
I agree Alstonboy. Don't get me wrong, I loved Darius on Family Matters. That was one of my favorite shows growing up (until it got too cheesy sci-fi). He was a good actor on that show. It just seems like he doesn't feel the role, like he's bored or something. I think that Aaron Spears should take over the role. He does look a little older than Shemar Moore, but he is about the same age in real life. They should have cast him or D'Andre Whitfield to begin with. I have nothing against Darius at all. I just don't think he was right for the role, and it, to be honest, infuriates me to no end that they had the audacity and stupidity to cast him in this role.
Clementine Ford, on the other hand, is just plain BAD! She doesn't even look like the other two main ones that played Mac. I still say Mandy Bruno would be perfect for the role, even if they have to wait to recast. She even looks like the first Mac somewhat.
I am also hoping that the rumor is true that Terri Colombino may be coming to Y&R and it should be as a Victoria recast. So sick of Amelia Heinle's boring Victoria. She's another actress that is really a pretty good one, but she is just plain wrong for the role. Too bad it's taken five years for the people at Y&R to figure out.
Please let this be true.
Excellent evaluation on all counts, Nathang! Alston, you're one of my favs; I love to read your commentary.
Nekeeta--
Thanks for the support. I am here everyday, and twice on Sundays.
LOL!!! And welcome to "Daytime Confidential"... I am sure you will come to realize that this website is addictive, and you will keep coming back for more. This is my FAVORITE soap/daytime blogging site.
Please God let this be true!
HALLELUJAH HALLELUJAH oh thank you sweet baby Jesus! And I hear this after the first Sunday I went to church in almost a year.
I don't think this is true. I believe it's only a rumor and ppl have said that it's not in the CBS Soaps in Depth magazine. So you all have gotten your hopes up for nothing. Sorry.
Ok, here's the thing: I actually want CF to work out really badly. She has the look of what I envision Mackenzie to be at this stage in her life (I think she's stunning in a very classic, understated way). But bless her little heart, she's got the stage presence of sawdust. I just want to grab her and breathe a personaity into her. It's sad because I hear she was really good on "The 'L' Word". If her exit is true, then I'm with Nathang1983 - Mandy Bruno would be a good look.
I want to support Clementine Ford because she's a gay actress, and I love gay people so much............but she's not cutting the mustard. I see FLASHES of decent performances in her, but not enough, and she usually just phones it in. Her recitation of dialogue is monotone and uninspiring. It's almost as if she's bored, or like she's unhappy on the show and waiting for them to give her a pink slip?? I feel uncomfortable watching her sometimes because she seems so unhappy, even when the character is supposed to be happy.
I think that Mandy Bruno, Terri Colombino, Marnie Schulenberg or even that chick who played Maddie on ATWT would be decent Mac recasts. Actually, the chick who played Maddie might be too young for the part. There are DOZENS of out-of-work actresses out there who could do this role justice.
Wanna know the truth?? I think that Paul Rauch or Maria Bell are friends in real life with Cybill Shepherd (who is Clementine's mother in real life!) and they gave her this job as a favor to Cybill. We all know that it's not WHAT you know, but rather WHO you know.
It's clear to me at this point that Clementine isn't gonna get it together, either because she CAN'T learn how to act properly or because she doesn't want to. Some actors are just not invested in growing or expanding their knowledge and skills, and are perfectly content to wallow in mediocrity for their whole careers. Maybe Clementine is one of those people, or maybe she just needs to pick another profession??? Maybe her mother is trying to push her into show business while she doesn't want to do it???
Good observation, Alston! Perhaps this just isn't the role for her; she may not FEEL the character of Mac. It certainly doesn't help that the writers give her such lackluster material and gave her the twin doses of human Ambien that are Cane and Lily (I like DG a lot and think he was interesting with anyone but Lily).
Nekeeta--
I did think that Cane was interesting when he was with Chloe, or maybe it was just the fact that they had that "War of the Roses" kind of relationship going. I knew that Lily would drag him down. She does the same thing to EVERY man who crosses her path!! Lily and Cane are, in my opinion, the most boring characters on Y&R---bar none!!! Mac is a close third!!!!!!
I liked Cane and Amber. Didn't really like Cane and Chloe but Cane is definitely a character that just should be paired with Lily. They don't make good tv in my opinion. The Lily and Cane pairing should be broke up and I wouldn't mind seeing Lily in a triangle with Abby & Daniel. Cane needs to mix it up with Mac or maybe Jana. Just someone other than Lily.
Can Mac take Cane and lily with her?
Cane can just leave altogether. He annoys the he** out of me.
Smitty, I agree that Cane and Lily need to get out of that damned apartment and mix it up with other characters because they bore the living (ish!) out of me!!!! A triangle and some tension in their marriage would DEFINITELY make them more interesting also. I am ONLY a fan of wedded bliss when it involves EXCITING characters. Take two boring people, push them down the aisle and then force me to watch them playing footsie for the next ten years??? You may as well shove bamboo shoots under my fingernails. I need my conflict sometimes, damnit. I like happy, but this is a soap opera. I need slings and arrows also.
Lily is gonna have to get some sassafras and backbone if she wants to go head to head with Paris Hilton 2.0 (um, I mean Abby!). Abby would read her, write her, turn the page and type her.....while Lily would probably stand there looking like she just got run over by a Mack truck. I am waiting for the writers to give me SOME reason to care about Lily, other than just the fact that she's the daughter of my favorite Y&R character of all time, and that she's at the center of the only black family on Y&R (even though she shouldn't be!)
Cane and Lily need an EDGE to gain my love and adoration. Being cute and rubbing each other's shoulders and hair ain't cutting it. Sorry.
Hell the guy in the Old Spice commercial would be a better Malcolm.
Dear Ms. Bell,
I heard that you were thinking of giving Clementine Ford the axe. I can't believe I'm writing this, but I think that would be a mistake. When Clementine first showed up she was worse than dreadful...what's that word? Ah, right, CRAP-TACULAR, but I must say that since you've paired her with Thad Luckinbill, she's actually watchable!
I'm liking her PPD storyline, but I'd like it even more if your writers knew how to write some realistic drama. I took some {notes} after watching "19 Kids and Counting" on TLC. Feel free to use them, I think they're really useful.
{Mothers of premature babies use a breast pump to provide children with needed anti-bodies and the other health benefits of breast milk}...As Mac is struggling with PPD, pumping would help her bond with the twins-something she wants to do, but feels conflicted over- thereby creating tension with Lily, whose feelings of inadequacy as a mother flare.
{Pumping takes place pretty regularly}...Bringing Mac to the hospital on a regular basis. While Lily is receiving chemo treatment, Mac and Cain could start to bond over the twins. As Cain has a white night complex, he could develop feelings for Mac, the "mother" of his children. To make this even more organic, Cain should initially oppose Mac's involvement but a "scare with the twins" convinces Lily that Mac should provide milk, thereby convincing Cain. At first, JT is supportive of Mac's involvement, he sees how much the contact with the twins helps Mac with her PPD, but after witnessing a tender moment between Cain and Mac, JT starts to worry that things are getting too complicated.
I hope you can see that spending time developing one character can have a snow-ball effect helping to develop all the characters involved. Previously, Lily, Cain, JT, and Mac have been written as really goody-goody (or Flat characters). To be honest, there's nothing really interesting about them compared to characters like Billy and Chloe. Billy and Chloe are Dynamic character because they undergo challenges which may/or may not change them. This is called an arc. According to Wikipedia, an arc is when "(c)haracters begin the story with a certain viewpoint and, through events in the story, that viewpoint changes."
Anyway, I'm sure you know all this and hope you will consider some of my humble suggestions.
Peace out,
Cece
Clementime Ford gets my vote as all time worse actor or actress ever. I absolutely cannot stomach her. She is like a fence post and now her part is worse than ever. JT and her get it on and the next day she take pregnancy test and is and has cravings. Who the hell writes this dribble? No wonder she looks like she is chewing on a sour pickle all the time. Oh my GOD, she is just too horrible for me to even continue on.
Are you serious? I didn't like Clem as Mac at first but she's MILES above the god-awful Eden Reigel as Heather...yuck!
I hate to see JT go, but they ruined his character by pairing him with Mac. If wanting to get into prime time was the reason that Thad is leaving, I wish him all the luck in the world.
I am thrilled beyond belief to be rid of Clemmie as Mac. There could have been a great story about Mac and Lily battling over the babies, but neither actress has the talent to pull that off, so I guess if one has to go Mac is the better choice.
If they don't breathe some life into Lily and Cane, those two can go also.
They need to recast Heather, and fast, if there is going to be a big court show down with the dirty cops. "Olive Oyl" is never going to be to be credible in this story. I am not sure her squeaky little voice could be heard in a court room.
The actor playing Malcom is growing on me a little, but Shemar Moore's shoes were just too big for this guy to fill.
They need to get rid of Jana next. Emily O'Brien should go to daytime. She is an awesome actress, but to me, the character is useless. This upcoming storyline with Noah just proves it.
Glowery, your choices are just the tip of the iceberg. There are a few other actors who need to be let go, including Tucker, Abby, the god-awful Victoria, and possibly the new Diane (Maura West seems like a miscast of Eden Reigel proportions).
It seems to me that they are writing Jana out. Look at her now: she's basically losing her mind, trying to transform herself into Chloe. She'll be gone by Christmas I bet, either sent back to the nuthouse or killed off (possibly in the upcoming disaster story).
