Digest has obtained the list of actors who have been asked to return for Alice’s sendoff: Jaime Lyn Bauer (Laura Horton), Christie Clark (Carrie Brady), Roark Critchlow(Mike Horton), Maree Cheatham (Marie Horton), Bryan R. Dattilo (Lucas Horton), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Johnson), Patsy Pease (Kimberly Brady), Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) and Lisa Trusel (Melissa Anderson) are all reportedly returning to Salem. "Most of them aren't coming back for just one day," says an insider. "Some will appear in a few episodes." Frances Reid (ex-Alice) passed away on February 3 and Digest reportedexclusively that the show had big plans to bring a slew of stars back to say good-bye. TVGuidemagazine.com reported earlier that Charles Shaughnessy (Shane) is also reprising the role of superspy Shane Donovan.

Nice to see Shane again, but I'm really really really excited to see Jennifer Rose on June 9th. I wish all of the above actors were coming back permanently. Stupid budget cuts.
The soap is doing a much better job with bringing our old faves back for story arcs! We just had Arlene Sorkin back as Calliope for a few episodes and LeAnn Hunley's Anna has been in and out of Salem for months! Now, Charles Shaughnessy's Shane is back for ten episodes. I love that DOOL does this and I like how bringing back old faves helps move stories forward.
I'd like to see Christie Clark's Carrie come back for a few more episodes (she will be on for Alice's funeral) to offer some advice to Sami. Others I'd like to see return for a short term visit include Bill Horton, Lucas Roberts, and Kimberly Brady. We will see all of them for Alice's funeral, but I'd like for them to stick around Salem a bit longer.
I have to wonder why Deidre Hall wasn't asked back. Could there be some bitterness or anger behind the scenes????? Just curious. It's strange....very strange.
It is odd. I agree. However, I know that she came to the memorial service that was held in the studio for Francis Reid. So it seems like she was welcome there. Maybe it was just awkwardness between the show and her. Maybe neither side wanted to make the move? We probably will never know.
