Great podcast. I recently discovered this site and love it. However, one of the participants said Judi Evans had won 2 Emmys, one for Guiding Light and one for Another World. While Evans was awesome on Another World, she never got an Emmy for as Paulina.

Great show guys!! It was like a big party
Wish Mike could have been there too...
In general, the Emmy's were okay this year (I was just watching them on and off since it wasn't as much fun when I realized I wasn't watching them live.) Since the nominations were all messed up, I really didn't care who won. Though I was disappointed Brian Kerwin didn't get an award. And I wasn't thrilled with Anthony Geary's win...if anything he's a supporting actor these days.
Jeanne Cooper's win was really unexpected. Yeah, maybe this really shouldn't have been her year to win, but most of the other women didn't even deserve to be nominated, so Cooper getting it was fine with me. You guys talked about not "endorsing" someone winning due to their history on a show, or never having won before, or just being a personal favorite, etc... But let's face it, that's the way these things work. Sure the voting should be unbiased, it should be based solely on that person's work for the previous year, but we all know that's not the way things go. This year in particular, the nominations were so off (Heather Tom's nod is a perfect example - she didn't get nominated for her performance as Katie, she got nominated for being Heather Tom). We all know the people that should have been nominated weren't, so how else could we get interested in this sham of an awards show except by rooting for our personal faves?
Loved your fashion round up! Heather Tom = Ariel on Crack!! Danielle, that is hysterical!!
My picks:
Best Dressed: Susan Lucci, Nadia Bjorlin, Carolyn Hennesy, Jessica Leccia, Farah Faith's shoes (but that's it), and Susan Haskell.
Worst Dressed: Leann Hunley (someone went crazy with the Bedazzler), Melody Thomas Scott (awful, the jewelry and fur jacket were so gaudy, the cut of the gown was not flattering to her cha chas at all), Alison Sweeney (in her Mother of the Bride get up), Melissa Archer (horrible! Her cha chas looked droopy, and her legs looked stumpy. Someone on another site said the dress looked like a garbage bag and ITA!), Laura Wright (going for minimalist chic, but she just looked silly), Arianne Zucker and Sarah Brown were the Goth Sisters, Rebecca Budig (whose idea was it to glue a giant origami flower to her dress??), Marcy Rylan (wearing a tent), and Gina Tagnoni looked like an awkwardly wrapped Christmas present.
Mixed feelings on: Kristen Alderson (loved the top part of her dress, but the bottom part with all the ruffles - ugh no), Jennifer Landon (the top was not flattering at all and her hair was a mess, BUT I love her quirky style and her willingness to be different. Plus, I loved the colors on her and the style of the dress), Jeanne Cooper (on anyone else, I would have hated that dress, BUT it's Jeanne. I liked that it was so dramatic and that she was obviously having fun with the outfit.)
BTW, GREAT point Luke about the fact that they should do something in rememberance of the daytime legends we've lost. It's just another example of the industry's lack of respect for itself... So I concur - God bless your ass! (that's going to be my new saying!!!
)
And I loved listening to the comments at the end of the show!
