You Have Changed Me

"You have changed me."

Those desperately uttered words have perfectly and succinctly summed up the sick, twisted and ultimately riveting story line of Todd and Marty on One Life to Live.

I use the word "riveting" in its purest sense: not to imply something that is entertaining or enjoyable for entertainment's sake alone, but rather as a thing that keeps our attention for better or worse, against whatever other instincts that might ask us to look away. In other words, this story line of compounded lies and grand delusion has kept many of us as glued to the screen as a car accident might induce a chronic case of rubbernecking or a nasty lover's quarrel in a supermarket might cause us to turn and watch. Yes, this is the story we thought "they" would never tell, but there is a question lurking just beneath the surface reactions for those fans titillated by the prospect of the loathsomely nicknamed "Tarty" and those other fans filled with disgust and anger:

Random DAYS Thoughts

Sorry this is late, I've only just managed to catch up on Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's episodes (Friday's thoughts to come later).

Wednesday's Episode - 10.01.08

Caroline:  It's not looking good for Caroline - only her prints on the murder weapon and the DA is going to press charges.  The fibers found at the scene are of a cotton blend, so that's no help clearing her at this stage.  I bet they end up belonging to Max - even though he's innocent of the murder as well (in my opinion).

Victor: I like that Victor wants to help Caroline and it does seem as though they are moving towards a Caroline/Victor re-pairing.  I guess enough time has passed since Grandpa Shawn died? READ MORE

Days of Our Lives: This Week's Preview Clip

This week sees the reveal of Nicole's pregnancy to father EJ.  But will Sami reveal her own news or will the shock of learning of Nicole's impending motherhood keep her quiet?  Just what will EJ do when he learns he's got two more children on the way?

Who will EJ choose?

Random DAYS Thoughts

Tuesday's episode 09.30.08

Awww... When there are real-live babies onscreen, they really steal the show.  How cute is Johnny?  How cute was EJ playing with Johnny?  I could barely pay attention to what Lucas and Sami were talking about in the scene pictured here - I tried to rewind and re-watch, but I'm still none the wiser.

I did pay close attention to EJami though.  Welcome back to my screen!  I've missed you guys - and you seem more like the EJami I remember too.  I'm really glad that Sami is being pro-active and doing something about gaining her independance back.  It saddened me to see Sami's self confidence so low though; how she braced herself for the inevitable comments about her hireability, and how she struggled to find something good about herself to write on her resume.  Somehow, I don't think four years of piano training and the ability to forge anyone's signature (even in the dark) are the type of admirable qualities an employer looks for.  But I loved EJ for his attempts to make Sami feel good about herself - and they shared a moment before Lucas interrupted... darn it! Days of Our Lives: Sexist Much?

So let me get this straight...Hope (Kristian Alfonso) turned down the Salem Police Commissioner position because it "wouldn't be fair to Bo and Ciara." But then Bo (Peter Reckell) turns right around and decides to pursue the position? I know Mad Men is all the rage right now, but when did the rest of television revert to the 1960's?

Is it "fair" to Hope and Ciara that Bo will have to spend "so much time" away from them as opposed to Hope? Why does Hope having a uterus mean she should be the one to sacrifice her career for home and family? Are we not living in a time when a woman just may soon be one of the leaders of the free world?

It would be so refreshing for the people in charge of this genre to realize that women are its target demographic. Women, who in an attempt to "have it all", have had to turn into Super Women since the Women's Movement, women who go out in droves to watch sexy, power women like Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, not Bruce Willis blow things up. Alison Sweeney on EJ vs. Lucas

Alison Sweeny did an interview with Michael Fairman, at Michael Fairman On Air On Soaps, in which he asked her about the great EJ vs. Lucas debate.

Here is an excerpt.

TV SOAP:
Who do you think is Sami’s true love? Lucas? EJ?

ALISON:
I suppose this is a very controversial question. I personally think Sami and Lucas truly love each other, but obviously a lot has gone on between them that has pushed them apart. Right now, they are writing Sami more focusing on EJ. It’s always fun to work with James Scott (EJ). He is enchanting
