As the World Turns Preview: Alison in Danger

The election battle between Luke (Van Hansis) and his former crush Kevin (Karl Girolamo) takes a dark path on Wednesday's episode of As the World Turns. Kevin's campaign team has kidnapped Alison (Marnie Schulenberg), without Kevin's knowledge, after they found out that she was a spy sent by Luke's campaign manager Casey (Billy Magnussen). In the previews at the end of the show we saw that Alison ends up in Old Town in her underwear.

Was it really necessary to humiliate yet another female character? Aren't women 18-49 the target audience? I can't believe women (or anyone) find it entertaining to keep watching all these women getting humiliated.

But apart from this latest twist, I'm really enjoying this storyline. It's so great to see the younger group of Luke, Noah (Jake Silbermann), Casey and Alison interacting with each other in this story. Like they actually live in the same town and know each other!

Welcome back, Lucinda!

I wasn't going to comment on today's episode of As the World Turns because I've been extremely busy, but two segments were so incredibly good that I couldn't help myself.

The first segment was Chris' goodbye scenes with Kim. Beautifully written and heartfelt, these are the kinds of scenes that the ATWT writers should be penning all the time. READ MORE

The Phantom Menace

I've been really busy the last few days and have had to play catch up with As the World Turns, but now that the DVR has practically melted down I'm still enjoying what I'm seeing overall...

THE STAR WARS SAGA CONTINUES:

Darth Vader/Darth Sidous (James Stenbeck) continued to woo weak-willed, emotionally confused and immature Anakin Skywalker (Paul Ryan) to the dark side by twisting psychological daggers in Anakin's/Paul's back. As I've said before, this isn't a new development, but rather a direct nod to ATWT's history of James' attempts to turn Paul to "the dark side." READ MORE

No Party Hat, No Party

Today was one of the first episodes of As the World Turns that I've been disappointed with in quite some time. As a whole, the performances were solid (was that a hint of growth from Chaunteé Schuler?) and the writing was decent, but there were a number of small and large plot elements that got on the very last of my nerves:

• So, Jack has the gall to ask Carly, who he's never hesitated to browbeat in fits of moral indignation, to talk to Janet — who he recently didn't hesitate to browbeat in a fit of moral indignation — about Jack's absence while the former keeps Jack's mission a secret from the latter. I almost recited the inevitable Janet's "You could trust Carly but not me!" argument with Jack coming a mile away, but I was only partly wrong. Janet stormed into the police station and demanded respect and common courtesy. Excellent! The only thing Janet and Carly should be keeping secret is how a cup of sugar wound up in Jack's gas tank.

• Didn't Janet's conversation with Carly about Jack sound a lot like Cassie's million laments about  "the connection" between Josh and Reva on Guiding Light before Josh dumped her? READ MORE

In a Heartbeat Everything Can Change

As the World Turns' has a kick ass new teaser out for next week's show. I don't know what is going on over at CBS but they seem to have really stepped up their game when it comes to their teasers as of late. The last few for The Young and the Restless and As the World Turns really catch one's attention and make you want to tune in.

The best thing about this As the World Turns' teaser is that they are using what sounds like a primetime voice over artist. It's sounds very CWish and I have to say I'm liking it.
