This week's issue of Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Michelle Ray Smith who plays Ava Peralta Lewis on Guiding Light is officially out. There have been rumors swirling around the Internet for months of her departure, but the magazine has finally confirmed it.

Smith joined daytime's longest running drama in 2005. The article teases that her exit will include a not-so-shocking twist and the character will not be recast. She will be the third cast member to leave the show in four months. It makes you wonder what's going on at GL? The magazine states her last airdate is July 28th.

Not a Big Loss I never liked this character, but what is GL going to do with all these big gaps, i hope they are trying to think of ways to reconstruct all the families, and bring back old core characters, if they can't get orginal's oh well, we desperatly need some new "light" to GL. I hope they come to their senses and let go the actor who plays "Grady" as well. I hate this story with him and Daisy, and Daisy comparing it to Reva & Jeffrey made me wish she would get hit by a car just as Tammy did. Grady should be in prison for good for killing our Tammy, AND KEEP HIM THERE!! I love Reva for putting him away for the time being. I wouldnt mind seeing Cyrus leave the show either, I wish they would come to their senses and give us what we want like maybe a Beth/Rick/Alan Triangle, we never seen any of them, i know Tina Sloan (Lillian) is recurring, but they could totally give us onscreen loving with her and Buzz. All i hope all these exits will mean they will have more money to bring other people to the show, plus haven't you noticed since Harley has left and has stopped being on everyday, Reva is! At least GL did something right!

Ava was getting on my last nerve so I'm not sad about this. What makes me nervous is that Guiding Light is losing so many actors. Bring back Danny and Michelle, now that's something that I would watch!

I can't say I'm upset, I've wanted Ava off the screen for a few years. But it makes me wonder, who is going to be left? Gus, Harley, Rafe, and now Ava are all gone - they need to bring back some old characters - AND QUICK!

Beautiful and talented actress, but GL needs to make some decided cuts and this is a good one. They need to get back to the basics. Michelle could go ANYWHERE in daytime with that face.

I wish Michelle well with her future endeavors and congrats on the baby! However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy that she's leaving. I couldn't stand the character so I'm happy Ava is off my screen.

I disliked the character but liked the actress. I hope she catches on somewhere and I think she will. She'll probably head to ABC like all the other P & G soap stars.
