SOAP BYTES: Will Comes Out to Sami and Lucas on Days of Our Lives; Matt Learns He’s a Killer on General Hospital!By Luke Kerr on May 17, 2012
DAYS BYTES: Lucas (Bryan Dattilo), Sami (Alison Sweeney) and Will (Chandler Massey) continue to be the single best thing on Days of Our Lives. The interpersonal strife and emotional drama has more than sucked me in. When Will revealed to his parents that he is gay the reactions were palpable.
Not unexpectedly, Lucas understood. However, Sami had a harder time dealing with Will’s truth. Fleeing her apartment, Sami bumped into EJ (James Scott) who actually had some wise advice for his ex-wife.
Lucas to Will: “I’m not disappointed in you. I’m disappointed for you. There is a difference there. I see what’s going on in the world and it’s not going to be easy for you to be gay.”
Did anyone else expect Sami to breaking out with a rendition of “Tomorrow,” from Annie while wearing that dress? READ MORE
SOAP BYTES: Loving Liason on General Hospital; Amber’s Unexpected Skills on The Bold and the BeautifulBy Luke Kerr on May 15, 2012
GH BYTES: Monday was heaven for this Liason fan. Jason (Steve Burton) and Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) scenes were so enjoyable, I completely forgot about the fact Jason has been a giant prick to Sam (Kelly Monaco). The way Liason looked at one another during that simple conversation gave me shivers. I rewatched it several times. Jason and Elizabeth need to reunite ASAP.
Later, Elizabeth visited Patrick (Jason Thompson) to convince him to help Ewen (Nathin Butler). Patrick is still spiraling out of control, but Epiphany’s (Sonya Eddy) earlier attempt to get him out of the house failed. Hopefully, he gets help soon.
SOAP BYTES: Carly Calls Out Johnny on General Hospital; Crazy is Busting Out All Over The Young and the Restless!By Luke Kerr on May 11, 2012
Y&R BYTES: Daisy (Yvonne Zima) is insane. Ricky (Peter Porte) is insane. The best line about the insanity on The Young and the Restless came from Lauren (Tracey Bregman): “Crazy is busting out all over the place.” If that isn't the truth, I don’t know what is!
Is Y&R so out of touch with its viewers it expects us to feel sorry for Ricky or Daisy? I refuse to be sucked in by these asinine stories.
I also really didn’t need to hear Daisy tell Ricky, “I just had the best sex of my life.” Considering the last time she had sex with Daniel (Michael Graziadei) he was drugged, I question her benchmark. READ MORE
SOAP BYTES: Florencia Lozano Debuts on GH; Daniel Proposes to His Rapist, as Y&R Jumps Every Shark at SeaWorldBy Luke Kerr on May 10, 2012
GH BYTES: The wait is over! Florencia Lozano made her General Hospital debut as Tea Delgado on Wednesday and I couldn’t be happier. I did a happy dance at seeing the very pregnant Tea walk into the PCPD and offer to help Starr (Kristen Alderson). Wishes don’t always come true, but now my two favorite soap attorneys—Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) being the other one—are on one soap. I’ll be watching Thursday’s GH live.
FASHION EMERGENCY: I interrupt this edition of Soap Bytes to BEG the General Hospital wardrobe and makeup departments to fix Kate Howard (Kelly Sullivan), ASAP. The editor of a fashion bible would never be caught in public looking as awful as Kate/Connie has been for months. She needs a haircut, highlights, a dye job and a completely new wardrobe.
It’s a sad day when Kate Howard’s hair is as cringe-inducing as the notoriously terrible haired Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) on The Young and the Restless. High definition TV is a wonderful thing, but it is not the friend of fried hair. Worse, Kate’s problems are amplified any time she shares a scene with Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) or Carly (Laura Wright), both of whom possess locks that look like they should be highlighted in Clairol commercials. Nearly every actress on GH has character appropriate wardrobe and amazing hair, except the woman who should be the most glamorous.
Now to the awesomeness of Todd’s return to Port Charles on Wednesday.
SOAP BYTES: Hot Messes on The Young and the Restless; Rick Struts on The Bold and the Beautiful’s CatwalkBy Luke Kerr on May 09, 2012
DAYS BYTES: Salem’s residents continued to find out about the Fab Four and the two snore bores dying in the explosion. Considering this show’s history, I’m surprised someone isn’t demanding DNA tests and a pap smear, before accepting what they are being told as fact. Hell, one of Celeste’s tarot card readings would be more reliable than “facts” in Salem.
Salem’s paragon of intelligence, Billie (Lisa Rinna), was the one to ask what was really going on. I'm incredulous.
Alison Sweeney and Chandler Massey continued to shoulder the heavy lifting in scenes at the Brady pub. I don’t think anyone in daytime does raw emotion better than those two, at the moment.
SOAP BYTES: Victor and Sharon’s Gross Kiss on The Young and the Restless; Scrapbooking on Days of Our LivesBy Luke Kerr on May 08, 2012
Y&R BYTES: Ewww, just ewww! Victor (Eric Braeden) and Sharon (Sharon Case) kissed in his office and it made me cringe. DVRs should start coming with early detection warning systems—like for tornados, hurricanes and tsunamis—for crap like that. #SaveSharonFromBeingMauledByPawPaw
Sharon: “I kissed you and I don’t regret it.”
Thank goodness for Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) sibling dynamic. After Sharon and Victor’s gross exchange, the Abbott scenes were the only thing that kept me from running to the bathroom and barfing. READ MORE
