SOAP BYTES: Todd Strikes a Pose on General Hospital; Nikki and Sharon Come to a Jailhouse Truce on The Young and the Restless!By Luke Kerr on June 19, 2012
GH BYTES: General Hospital kicked off the week by having Todd (Roger Howarth) pose shirtless in his hotel room, when he saw it was Carly (Laura Wright) knocking on his door. The scene was hilarious. Todd can be such a cad, and oh so manipulative. It turns out Todd bought the Port Charles’ paper and changed its name to The Sun. It also seems he’s the majority owner of Kate Howard’s (Kelly Sullivan) Crimson. I'm not sure I want to see Todd in scenes with Kate, but I like that he renamed the paper. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Todd and Carly are SO HOT! They need to jump in bed already!
Sam (Kelly Monaco) continued to mourn the loss of her child with her sisters and her mother at the cemetery. Thanks to Monaco, I'm feeling almost as bad for Sam as I did for Patrick (Jason Thompson) when Robin (Kimberly McCullough) "died". Meanwhile, Michael (Chad Duell) and Jason (Steve Burton) spent a bunch of time talking about Jason's emotions.
Since Days of Our Lives was the only soap to air a new episode on Memorial Day, today’s Soap Bytes column will be a DAYS BYTES.
Will (Chandler Massey) revealed to EJ (James Scott) that Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) wanted him to make sure Rafe knew EJ had sex with Sami (Alison Sweeney). Will’s confession upset EJ, but the scene was another reminder of the great dynamic the two characters have developed. EJ seethed that Will was the reason he lost Nicole. Will apologized, saying he didn’t have a choice, but EJ wouldn’t hear it.
EJ stormed into the DiMera mansion and confronted Stefano about his betrayal. EJ claimed Stefano cost him the woman he loved, but Stefano told him he was trying to guide EJ in the right direction. EJ told Stefano both he and Will are going to pay for their actions.
Stefano: “Tell me something. If you love Nicole so much, why did you cheat on her with Samantha?”
Idiot Austin (Patrick Muldoon) was ecstatic about the upcoming arrival of his baby with Carrie (Christie Clarke), as Rafe (Galen Gering) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) stood by and watched uncomfortably. Austin tried to settle his differences with Rafe in a kumbaya moment. Rafe was upset about Carrie being pregnant with Austin’s baby. Nicole tried to give him hope that he still had a chance.
SOAP BYTES: Deacon’s Back on The Bold and the Beautiful; Would Cassie Approve of Sharon and Victor on The Young and the Restless?By Luke Kerr on May 24, 2012
Y&R BYTES: The anniversary of Cassie’s death has always been a time for reflection on The Young and the Restless. Thursday’s episode was no different. The seventh anniversary began with Victor (Eric Braeden) visiting Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) grave. Of course Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) arrived shortly after and together they grieved the loss of their granddaughter.
Meanwhile, Nick (Joshua Morrow) spent some time talking to Cassie at the church, where Sharon (Sharon Case) found him. Later, Noah (Kevin Schmidt) sat by her grave and told his guardian angel he needed her advice.
The Newman family’s remembrance of Cassie made me pause to wonder how the character would have ended up if she were still alive. Would she be a Genoa City saint, or the town slut like Sharon?
When Sharon asked Victor if he thought Cassie would approve of them being together, the first thing I thought before he would respond was OH-HELL-NAW!
I did like the toast to Cassie. For one day we caught a glimpse of what Y&R might be if it’s writing wasn’t a mountainous pile of dung 29 out of every 30 days.
SOAP BYTES: Johnny Kills Anthony on General Hospital; Bill Spencer Becomes Big Brother on The Bold and the Beautiful!By Luke Kerr on May 23, 2012
B&B BYTES: After a day of relief from Hope (Kim Matula), Liam (Scott Clifton) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) we found ourselves back where we have been for months, enduring agonizing relationship dialogue go on and on and on and on and on. After dining on the emotional steak between Bill and Katie (Heather Tom) on Monday, Tuesday felt like a meal of cotton candy.
Hope: “I didn’t realize all the things I had buried in side.”
Tell me about it.
Bill’s (Don Diamont) henchwoman bugged the office of Hope’s therapist (Hillary B. Smith). Didn’t Bill learn his lesson from manipulating Steffy’s X-rays? Later, Bill listened in as Hope recounted how open she feels to her therapist. He also heard her share that she never met her father. Apparently, in addition to owning a conglomerate, Bill Spencer is trying out to become “Big Brother.” Hurry up and arrive on The Bold and the Beautiful, Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan)!
SOAP BYTES: Nikki Accepts Jack’s Proposal on The Young and the Restless; Sam Catches Elizabeth in Jason’s Arms on General Hospital!By Luke Kerr on May 22, 2012
GH BYTES: Connie (Kelly Sullivan) admitted to Sonny (Maurice Benard) she is the one who shot out Anthony’s (Bruce Weitz) tires. However, in the next scene, Johnny (Brandon Barash) confessed to the mob patriarch that it was he was the shooter. Was it Connie? Was it Johnny? In the end it really was Johnny who did the dirty deed, and convinced Connie to take the fall.
Jason (Steve Burton) learned about Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) Lamaze class at the hospital while spending time with Liz (Rebecca Herbst). Unfortunately for Sam, she ended up catching Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) in Jason's arms. Sure, it was totally platonic, but it was a scene that should have both Liason and JaSam fans tuning!
SOAP BYTES: Crystal Chappell Debuts on The Bold and the Beautiful; Starr’s Bail is Denied on General Hospital!By Luke Kerr on May 18, 2012
B&B BYTES: Caroline (Linsey Godfrey) took an oblivious Thomas (Adam Gregory) home to meet her family. A short case of mistaken identity ensued, before Crystal Chappell made her debut as Dani. However, because he wasn’t told the truth, Thomas continued to ask where Caroline’s father was. Friday’s The Bold and the Beautiful should be very interesting.
What did you think of Chappell’s debut on B&B?
