All My Children: Beth Ehlers & Ricky Paull Goldin Promo

Gus and Harley er...Jake and Taylor literally run into one another this week on All My Children. For Guiding Light fans this must be at least a little bitter sweet.

To have as popular a couple as Gus and Harley end up on another show is never easy for fans but it provides an opportunity for All My Children to capitalize on Beth Ehlers and Ricky Paull Goldin's popularity and boost the show's ratings.

If you are a Guiding Light fan will you be tuning in for Beth Ehlers and Ricky Paull Goldin's reunion?

I really love RPG as Jake. But, I really wish BE wasn't playing his love interest. In all honesty. I kinda wish Beth wasn't coming on AMC at all. I feel as if they shouldn't have pulled in a big name, high priced actress..and that they should keep busy paying and focusing on AMC's vets.

All My Children is All My Children...NOT GUIDING LIGHT!

My thought ...they should keep the dwindling number of AMC fans they have happy and not worry about the (few) GL fans they MIGHT pull in from RPG/BE crossing over.

I want to see RickyJake hang with Pine Valleyites before getting tangled up with a newbie.

(Of course if they keep having shows like todays , I won't be watching anyway. Greenlee,Kendall & Ryan.... ENOUGH ALREADY! I don't CARE!!!!!! ANd I swear, if GL tells Kendall how she f'ing forgave Kendall one more time I'm gonna stick a hot poker in my eye. Never mind what she did to Kendall's kids........and Zach?? ...more like pod Zach IMHO.)

Oh sure! I'll be watching AMC every day and I haven't watched an ABC show in years, so they have a new viewer in me. I hope others will at least give Taylor/Beth a chance as they have Jake/Ricky. The story sounds quite good, and I hope it goes over well.

I think they will be marvelous on AMC--a great shot in the arm. Look how the ratings went down on GL when they left--at least AMC isn't bringing on some pretty faces who can't act. Jake and Taylor sound awesome, I can't wait.

I'm a GL fan who is way too thrilled to be rid of Gus & Harley to even think of torturing myself by tuning in for GusH2: The even more boring and ridiculous sequel. I don't think AMC fans are gonna be too happy about seeing all of their characters disappear into the ether just to watch an overexposed, pre-packaged couple that are refugees from a show with even worse ratings than their own. While I don't fault Ehlers or Goldin one bit for leaving, I think ABC/AMC is making a big mistake here and the presumption that these two are just so undeniably awesome together that they MUST, just MUST be paired together or the earth will fall off it's axis really annoys me. Gus & Harley were kinda cute together at the very, very beginning of their story but they were overexposed, overhyped, and way too many core characters were butchered to give them story. As a result, there were alot of GL fans, myself included, who were thrilled that they FINALLY left and the show is getting better without them.

Ratings didn't fall when Gus & Harley left, they fell about three weeks after the transition to the new production format and have been starting to stabilize since. I think GusH's popularity is grossly exaggerated, especially after all the horrible stories Kreizman put them in seemed to cost them alot of their early fanbase.

I must say I'll be tuning in, at least to see how it pans out. I am a fan of RPG & BE, however, I definitely agree that ABC/AMC should not presume to know that lightening will strike twice with them. I'll give it a fair chance.

Agnes Nixon is excited about the storyline, that's worth something in my book. I've never had it in me to like AMC but *she* apparently got me hooked on Angie and Jesse. I truly loved that reunion. I was just blathering on about soaps and the NBA and I view AMC as a team with a bunch of stars and no heart or chemistry. It's very weird to watch. They made a big hairy deal about the real Greenlee and it turns out they haven't given the girl much to do since they can't make their minds up about Ryan/Greenlee. Other than the spectacular wedding, it feels like everyone lives in a different town. They don't interact. Even GL doesn't feel that disjointed. And the show's big star is rarely involved with anyone else, and the other big star (Adam) is poorly used. (Just to say something nice I will say Jesse is on fire as the chief.)

I'm happy to tune in every day to see how it goes. It is indeed taking the bitter with the sweet. It was fun just to see them in the promo. I never lost faith in Gus and Harley; the horrible stories were not their fault. I mean seriously - break them up so Harley can go after Marina's boyfriend? Harley would never do that (just like Cassie would never have gone after Josh). I don't understand what GL was doing just like I don't get the Martha Byrne decision. Even as I recognize that ATWT is great right now. I guess CBS needed ABC to kick them in the ass to turn it up a notch. But watch out ABC, Y&R is about to take no prisoners.

Just to set the record straight. I need to say that people continued to tune in to GL until Gus was killed, and viewers flat turned it off. Before point GL was having ratings of 2.0 and 1.9 but then fell to 1.7 and stayed there until Beth left at which time the ratings fell to 1.5 and then 1.6. The last day Beth was on was a 1.8. The absence of Gus and Harley has hurt GL.

As you said, GL has been holding for about 3 weeks...at 1.6.

Oh, yes, I'll be watching!! I'm really excited! It helps that I've been an AMC fan for 12 years. I'm excited to see how Ricky & Beth get along with the AMC cast. Ricky is already connecting well as Jake with Greenlee, Aiden, Tad, Joe, etc. I can't wait to see who Beth has chemistry with.
