Check Out The CW's Fall Soap Preview!
The CW will kick off their Fall 2013 programming with the fifth season premiere of The Vampire Diaries. This will take place on Thursday, Oct. 3 and will be followed by the premiere of The Vampire Diaries spinoff, The Originals.
The young, mostly undead, adults of Mystic Falls will be dealing with transitioning to college life. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will also still be in the honeymoon phase of their relationship. Katherine will be stuck readjusting to being human, while the villainous Silas masquerades as Stefan (Paul Wesley).
The Originals follows Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) to New Orleans. The three will clash with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who now runs the town and was once Klaus’ close friend and protégé before a falling out. Following the premiere, The Originals will debut in its regular timeslot at 8 pm EST on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Season 9 of Supernatural will follow at 9 pm on Tuesday. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are in for trouble when Death reappears. In order to maximize the exposure of The Originals, an encore of the second episode will air after The Vampire Diaries on Oct. 10.
The following week, Reign premieres Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9 pm EST. Adelaide Kane stars in this reimaging of a young Mary, Queen of Scots’ life. Because it’s The CW, she’s also embroiled in a steamy love triangle, involving her betrothed—the future king of France—and his bastard brother.
