Which actor do you think should win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards?
My vote went for Jason Thompson. In a perfect world, however, Doug Davidson would be getting an award for that "Jon Hamm."
Jason Thompson was phenomenal last year. He should get that Emmy. But the other three actors did some good work too.
Doug Davidson ... no one can cry you a river like Doug Davidson in Daytime. And Peter Bergman did pretty well with Jack's drug addiction storyline. Michael Muhney had his moments too but I would have to say that it wasn't his strongest year.
This should be Doug's year.
No surprise on the voting though on this site.
pferrando I was going to type what you typed. Thankfully I don't have to now.
Doug deserves it. He'll have a better chance at the actual emmy's than he does here tho...lol
Stoney...yes, I agree. Although with three Y and R actors nominated, they may dilute the Y and R vote....
I hope not because he had such strong performances. I like both Peter and Michael, but I don't think they had the year he did.
Congrats to the GH guy though too. I'm sure he deserves his nomination.
Jason Thompson. He is possibly the best male actor on GH right now.
However, if not him, I would definitely give this award to Doug Davidson. His work was phenomenal and palpable in the Ricky storyline.
I'm rooting for Doug and his John Hamm. Go get em tiger. :p
Doug Davidson is a fine actor. I haven't watched Y&R for about two years because it was totally unwatchable. It wouldn't surprise me if he won, though.
Just FYI: the reason I felt compelled to comment is because I wanted to show stoney07 and pferrando that we supposed GH/OLTL-lovin' peeps can give credit when it's due. I don't think the same can be said for the anti-GH/OLTL peeps. And I don't mean to lump you guys into that group. I'm just responding to your comments above.
gslam....I appreciate that...And I never slam GH or OLTL. But the bias on here does exist. Every time there is a vote on something you see it.
But I get it. The ABC soaps fans have always been very vocal. It is what it is.
And I have started watching OLTL during its reboot and AMC as well. Right now the only two shows I don't watch are Days and GH.
Thanks for the message, pferrando. It's nice to be able to have a decent conversation with someone in the comments here that isn't personal or nasty. I think that's my main issue with a lot of the comments. If you don't like something, there's a way to discuss it without being personal or nasty. Word choice makes a huge difference.
gslam...Exactly...there is passion, and then there is crazy. Sometimes people are actually scary on here.
*rolls eyes that a GH character wins the vote*
Jason Thompson deserves to win, he was awesome during Robin's death. Peter B has won before, Micheal M. will have another time, his acting can be a bit eractic at times, but I really like him in the role, and I just don't find Paul D as that good for the award. His hoarse voice is distracting to me.
Restless you naughty little vixen...hehe LMAO...but would have to agree with you.
Doug's performance was stunning to watch the agony of Paul. What I'm afraid of if being so Y&R heavy in this category could actually hurt his chances.
Go Doug with your Hammhock!
They need to be shooting Doug in tight jeans all the time. The one amazing revelation of shooting the show wide was discovering Doug's assets.
I really want Doug to win. He gave a great performance and is LONG overdue.
Not only did Davidson deliver BIG time this year, he always has. It's his turn.
If Doug can wait over 30 years for a well deserved Emmy, so can this cute little GH guy.
One of the reasons I started watching this show years ago was partially because of DD. Being married to Lauren, the PI agency storylines, PHyllis & Christine, Eva Longoria, and the interfering mother, he always brought it, he deserves this, actually a very long time coming.
It took you until wide screen to notice the package??? It was hard to miss on the old 19" back in the 80's.
I guess he's always delivered big, huh?
It was great having him on again today. His scenes with Carmine and brief scenes with the spiraling Baldwins were standout, and it shows you that he doesn't need a crying scene to prove he should have this statue.
This is the one that I'll be waiting for the whole night.
I think JT is great, but I have an issue with the categories that some actors are in. JT was not lead last year, he was supporting. So was Peggy McCray from Days. Lead to me is someone that is on a lot, and dominates story for much of the year. I don't think JT did that. He is supporting in the traditional since of the word. I do wish him luck tonight though.
But that's not the way it works. If you have your own storyline, you're the lead of it. And that's enough. Besides, in the Cartini era JT has definitely been a lead.
