Has Matt Lauer Lost His Connection With Today’s Audience?

Well, this may explain why Matt Lauer talked about the Ann Curry debacle in an interview with The Daily Beast. The New York Times published an article Thursday about Today’s ratings decline, Lauer’s plummeting Q Score and if the show’s audience no longer feels a connection to its longtime host.
Reportedly, Lauer’s Q Score has fallen from 19 in June of 2011, when Curry joined Lauer as co-host of Today, to 9 in January of 2013. As if that isn’t bad enough, the New York Times points out NBC and ABC are now analyzing whether-or-not Today’s ratings are better when Lauer is on vacation.
Ms. Curry has been gone for nine months, yet “Today” is still losing to ABC’s “Good Morning America” by about 800,000 total viewers a day. (In the 25-to-54-year-old group, it is losing by fewer than 100,000 viewers.) The ratings are scrutinized now by NBC and ABC for signs that “Today” is stronger on the days when Mr. Lauer is on vacation.

NBC, should bring Ann Curry back , Savana has not improved the ratings, that is where NBC and Matt went wrong.
Ann got a raw deal by NBC.

I refuse to worry about Ann Curry or any other overpaid talking head on television. It's not like she's gonna end up on the soup line anytime soon.
Good GAWD almighty.......
Truth be told, there are already far too many talk show hosts and presenters on TV these days, very few of whom stand out in any real noteworthy way. Why do we need all of them?

Thank you! This is my sentiment as well. I never cared for Ann Curry that much even when she was delivering 'top headlines'. Matt has always been a favorite. I would assume NBC is evaluating alot of different scenarios, not just the one mentioned.

My favorites currently on TODAY are Lester Holt and Al Roker. I believe Lester Holt to be more of a serious journalist and believable. I was also surprised at the gravitas Al Roker has brought to his more serious interviews. He's also very funny and just says whatever. I'm probably in the minority though, liking Al Roker. Actually, I prefer CBS This Morning.

I like Ann and what the difference from her vs the others is she's a real live journalist. While others are just talking heads with nice pretty faces. Ann hits the pavement running, but at times she can be annoying.
As for Matt he done well at the Today Show, so what he's being paid millions. If we all had their jobs I would want to be paid millions too. I think they want to create Matt instead of the good guy next door into this monster villain.
There always going to be several sides of the story that not being reported on. Personally The Today Show should not be on for 4hrs. 7-9 should be the Today Show and 9AM Al, Hoda, Kathie Lee and that it done at 10AM... Ann will do good out in the field and after the next contract cycle Matt should move into a hosting job. Word on the street Lauer could be the new host for Jeopardy!
I hope Lest Holt replaces Lauer instead of Ryan Seacrest-

As it ever occur that the TODAY show is no longer interesting because of how the show is structure and who is on it? Matt Lauer is not the only one who is not working. Star Jones and the rest of their "experts", Donny Deutsch and Dr. Nancy Snyderman are not working at all either.

Too fucking bad. Matt Lauer is a backstabbing low life. Karma is a bitch and the shit heads that run NBC are getting exactly what they deserve. Ann Curry deserved better than to be publicly humiliated after 14 years on The Today Show. I'm glad to see the show fail in the wake of their stupid decision.
Lauer is a louse. He'll be shown the door soon enough.

Ann Curry was a bore. Stick her on CNN. That's more her speed.
