That's my girl............
DIVA!!! I miss Dru so much
Can Victoria come back to daytime. I know the heffer need a check. Sony get over yourselves along with all the egos on the set. Bring her back and lets have some fun. The show is good as is but it would be a whole lot better if she were able to be there with the cast for the 40th. I'm sure its already been taped but they can bring her back like Bobby and edit her in.
Oh how wish the egos were left at the front door for Y&R to be the best it could be....sigh...if Drucilla came back w\Neil and Leslie\Tyler in mix...Y&R would get a big buzz.... (
I'm afraid Victoria has burned too many bridges, and if you're on twitter you will see she is burning air space! She will NEVER be welcomed back to CBS OR SONY! And believe me, I loved Drucilla!
She never passes up a chance to get her picture on here, no matter how terrible she looks. How sad.
I'm afraid I have to agree with Idylkng. I adore Dru and Victoria Rowell is a wonderful actress. But I heard she wanted to audition for DAYS, apparently for the special prosecutor role they are casting, and Steve Kent said a firm "no".
WOW! Really, I didn't know she auditioned for Days! That's a shame that so many bridges have been burnt because she could be an asset for any soap. I haven't seen her doing no acting gigs in few years. Back in the '90s she was doing both primetime & daytime. There must be something very hugh going on that got her expelled from acting even on episodic TV. I don't know any details, but shocked how roles have completely dried up for her over the years. (
This doesn't ring true to me. Why would she need to AUDITION for a recurring role on any soap? Her acting credentials are well-established.
Yoryla, I think it's far more likely that people hate the woman so much for telling an uncomfortable truth that they make up silly, baseless stories just to discredit her.
I believe she herself said it on her Twitter feed. I did not see the tweet myself, however.
She had a very small forgetable part on Law and Order SVU, a few weeks ago as a judge.
Eric Braden is still on the show even with all of his shenanigans over the years. It makes me wonder :-/
I don't think VR and EB's situations can be compared. Has Eric Braeden publically trashed Sony or CBS as companies and accused them of a certain way of thinking? That's the problem here. Yes, EB has done a lot of things throughout the years, he's fought with PB etc. but those have been HIS problems.
VR's problem goes so much further. She has basically put two major companies on the spot for being discriminating. Whether that's true or not is, I'm sorry to say, irrelevant. The problem is she has made a media circus out of it. Now, if she wants to raise awareness on the subject, then fine. She has done that. But if she wants more jobs out of that media circus, it's not gonna work. It's like she wants to have her cake and eat it too. She can't go trashing a company and then apply for a job there. Everyone should know this. out-spokenness is the problem. She should have really thought of herself first before speaking out. And if she had issues with her co-stars, she could have dealt with them privately. Heck, she could have tormented Michelle Stafford back until SHE would have been so fed up that she would have wanted to leave. I'm sorry but VR made her own bed in regards to her job situation.
I love Drucilla and I actually love Victoria Rowell.
I think she does a little much on twitter sometimes, but hey...if she's that passionate about it, I say why not? It had been a while since VR said anything about the behind the scenes crap on the show, and I really think that after MAB was fired and she saw that Sony still wouldnt let her return under the new regime, she decided to go balls to the wall about whatever she's feeling was discriminatory behind the scenes.
What she's saying does have merit...I mean all we have to do is look at that love scene with Olivia and Brad when she had that du-rag thrown across her head, or the horrible wigs they made Debbi Morgan wear. Leslie's hair isn't always the best either. And unfortunately, these people obviously feel like black women's hair isn't good enough to make it on air because they are ALWAYS given these weird looking wigs to sport.
The fact that black women on Y&R are treated differently behind the scenes isn't really that far-fetched. This is the same show that punished KSJ for speaking out about his lack of storyline, the same way other stars basically TRASHED the storyline that they were given. Yet HE was the only one punished for it. We had "Winters Wednesdays". And MAB's version of a storyline was Devon sleeping with his Aunt Tyra,..that little girl Ana singing, Neil and Sofia's awkward couch sex, Chicken George replaced Shemar Moore as Malcolm, DrugHarmony's return to Genoa City...IDK. I just don't get it.
BUT, technically we can go back before that. I kind of liked the scenes under LML where Neil learned that Malcolm was Lily's father. It wasn't as bad as it Could have been. LML took time with the AA characters. She did't exclude them the way LML did. BUT, I still would have to agree with Victoria Rowell. Under LML, Dru became the stereotypical "angry black woman". Dru had been classy, yet outspoken for at least a decade at that time. She wasn't the "Street urchin" she was when she came to town. So seeing Dru regress to the raving, loud, angry black bitch was kind of insulting, even to ME, and I was just like 16 at the time. Seeing her physically assault Carmen numerous times, even AFTER the restraining order, cutting up Carmen's clothes, etc....it didn't ring TRUE to Dru for me. Drucilla was loyal to her man, and she did whatever she could to keep him, but she didn't strike me as the type to go crazy over Neil. But then again, I don't believe THAT was a race issue as much as it was LML had most of the cast out of character at that time...
What it all boils down to for me is the fact that VR spoke the truth about the behind the scenes crap going on. SONY felt some kind of way about it, and they basically have blacklisted her from their soaps. And seeing what an asset she was to soaps, they demanded LML to kill her off to prevent her from going to B&B as Drucilla. It's a personal vendetta that they have, and it SHOWS just by that action. So I say, VR told the truth, Sony couldn't take, and that's where we stand now.
And for some reason Victoria Rowell feels that even after what she's said, they will let her back on the show, which I don't think will happen (I'm still keeping up hope)...but honestly I don't think it will happen. NOT because she's untalented, not because she won't cause a ratings surge, NOT because there's no more story to tell. But because the woman openly spoke out against inequality behind the scenes. Because she STILL speaks out about it. And she shows that she cares more about equality for her peers that are still on the show than she does about landing a gig.
Me personally, after I quit the show, I would've explained why (the inequality) and then I would've left it alone. WHY? Because obviously those black actors/actresses left on the show didn't have a problem with being treated poorly because they never openly backed her. Sure, there were a few "beat around the bush" tweets to her from her co-stars, but there was never really a time where KSJ or anyone else came out and said what she's been saying is the truth. Yet she still goes on and on trying to get her point across...to the point that now people think she's crazy.
And while I'm ranting, we even had Chicken George go on radio and say he doesn't see a problem with anything behind the scenes and "Paul Rauch is my n*gga"...ignorant ass.
Anyway, we see where Paul Rauch being his "n*gga" got him...a place in the unemployment line.
So in conclusion, lol, VR may be right in her accusations, but clearly Sony isn't going to change how they do things behind the scenes. The AA ARE being shown more now, but I think that's mostly at the writers discretion, but I could be wrong. I just think she should stop. Her point has been received, those of us who want to see it have already seen that what she's saying is the truth...so that's that.
STONEY07, That was an XLNT post. I feel that Victoria Rowell, more or less, cut off her nose to spite her face. She should have given up on this a long time ago.
One point I would like to make, is in regards to the hair do's or rather the hair don't's. I honestly believe that Y and R has the worse hair people of any TV show I have ever seen. Their hairpieces, wigs, extensions or whatever they wish to call them, are all bad. The only one even close to looking real is Lauren's and I don't think she lets anyone on the show touch her hair. Sometimes Nikki looks like someone just sort of threw a hairpiece at her and let it land on her head and never touched it again. Oh well, and I am a dirty old man and not a hair dresser or what ever the current phrase is for one.
