'Candyman' Tony Todd Cast on The Young and the Restless!
Get ready for the much-mentioned father of The Young and the Restless’ Leslie (Angell Conwell) and Tyler (Redaric Williams) to arrive in Genoa City. According to Horror Society.com, Tony Todd, best known for his roles in Platoon, Final Destination and the horror smash, Candyman, has landed the role of the incarcerated Gus Rogan. When asked about upcoming projects, Todd revealed,
Yeah, I’ve got a bunch of films in the can. There’s a film called Unbroken. There’s a film that I made in Wales called Dead of Nite, which is making its Australian debut in April and I’m part of that. I’m currently doing day work on and when I say day work, I just mean I consider it my day job. I’m working on The Young and the Restless that just celebrated its 40th anniversary. They came to me with a character that I just couldn’t refuse. The difference in working in the soap world, you have to come totally prepared and you’re there and you basically have one take. I look at that as a challenge and my character is really a unique one. I play a prisoner who’s falsely accused of murdering his wife. I’ve done 4 episodes so far and I’m going to do at least 20. So that’s what I’m doing right now, I just worked yesterday. It’s a whole new demographic, I have my reasons for everything that I do.
No word on when Todd's first airdate is slated.

Let me grab some popcorn and get ready to read all the pearl clutching that folks are gonna do over that picture of Todd from Candyman.
Good bit of casting though. Tony is a very talented actor.

Well alright! We are cooking with gas here! Cooking with gas as we begin to explore the lives of the characters we have on canvas.

Hmmm...I think I like it. I think I like it.
Although it may be hard to see anything other than a murderer when I look at him. But hell, maybe that's the point

I'm happy with this casting choice. His character in Candyman scared the bejesus out of me.
Could get interesting...

Great actor. Great casting. I am shocked that Jill Farren Phelps didn't choose one of the tweens from Hollywood Heights to play this part, since that seems to be her MO these days.
His character's first mission should be to slap Tyler REPEATEDLY until he comes to his senses and realizes that Lame Lily is not worth his time!! And if that doesn't work, he should brainwash him and implant a microchip in his brain......
Oops, I forgot, Hackarena Bell isn't writing this show anymore.

It's really cool that they got a good actor for this role. (Despite all his genre work, which is often synonymous with "bad acting" in some minds, Tony Todd can definitely act.) I LOVE all of the AA people on Y&R these days, and more importantly I love the stories the show's telling about them. The addition of another actor of color is music to my ears
And it needs to be said: Other than SBu and Avery, Y&R is awesome right now.

This is great. He will work it out. Hopefully it will be for more than a couple of episodes and better than Dylan and his daddy.

I'm kinda burned out on the new characters recently. As someone mentioned above, especially Avery's ex and his Dad. Is that heading somewhere or are we STILL trying to establish this guy. Enough already.
And even though I like the whole Wheeler story, other than Leslie, that's a lot of screen time for newbies.
Don't get me wrong, I'm loving Y and R, but I'm heading into a "caution" mode with the new blood.

Tony Todd is a fabulous actor, and believe it or not never was a big "Candyman" fan. I just love watching extremely versatile actors, and. Mr. Todd fits the bill. Oh yeah, I also love his deep domineering voice. I'm excited to see what he brings to the role of Gus Rogan.

Ok, perfect casting.
I can see why he would be wrongly convicted. That man just looks like he killed someone.
Also I LOVE what he said about working on a soap. That is a nice shoutout.

Tony Todd scared the sheet out of me in Candyman & I was a kid then. That's all I've ever associated him w/ but I'm only hearing good things about him on this thread so I'm anxious for his 1st scenes.

It seems quite obvious that the good Congressman did something he'd like to keep hidden from public view.
Just don't say those two kid's father's name three times in a row.

Looks like I won't be getting the BBQ spare ribs and pork fried rice for dinner after all!
But seriously, this is a great choice, he is a seasoned actor!

This is promising. Tyler & Leslie's father sounds like a major badass villain. Maybe he can shake things up!

Okay, now this is kinda bordering on genius. The original Candyman is one of the most iconic horror films of the last several decades IMO and nobody does creepy like Tony Todd. Looking forward to this.

Ultra cool! Casting Tony Todd is a great choice to play Valerie's dad. This really amps up the pressure on Marcus. Kudos to Josh G for this really interesting story-line. I am really believing that the 'good people' of Genoa City may have gotten themselves into something much deeper than they bargained for -- namely Victor C Newman. Me thinks, ol Vic, that you signed on with El Diablo when you hired Stephanie to try to bring down Jack Abbott. The great thing is that jack is free of the whole thing, and Victor is going to be knee deep in all of the hoopla.

Ted, you slay me! But in a non-Candyman way.
Now, for SF fans, Todd has also appeared numerous times on STAR TREK - Next Gen and I think on the other Star Trek sequels. He plays a wicked Klingon.
His voice is so deep and resonant. This should be a fun turn and quite a long arc at about 24 episodes, I think it looks like.
