First Impressions: Kin Shriner Returns to General Hospital as Scotty Baldwin

Just like lat week with Laura, we get 3 seconds of Scotty and you are asking what we thought?

Not a lot to go on but he looks fantastic and if this story is going where I think it's going then I can wait to see the upcomming conflict! Barbara Jean needs to make an appearance now to make this retro story complete.

I love Kin and adore the character of Scotty ( since I was 14) and I think this is what I have been waiting for as a fan.

I would guess that the person on the other end of the phone conversations Laura is having is with Scotty. I sure hope so. I have been watching long enough (since early 60s) to see Laura and Scotty as a happy couple until Luke started stalking her and raped her and then what could have possessed her but she married him. Oh well, it is soap and the most impossible couples get together. My hope is that Luke gets with Tracy (they are so perfect together) and Laura and Scotty get to be together for a long time. I can think of many storylines for them (including stuff with Luke when he isn't on vacation from the show). Ken Shriner and Genie Francis are so great together.

Scott Baldwin is one of the best, most complex, and underrated characters in GH history. No doubt the writers will utilize his great sense of humor, but hopefully they can also draw on the complexity Kin Shriner brings to the character. Scotty should be more than just a one-dimensional bad guy.

It's such a shame that they killed off Logan. Josh Duhon and Kin have such a similar gaze and it would have been great to seem them play off each other. I don't recall if they did. What a waste it is to kill of characters with family ties. The triangle of Lulu, Logan, and Johnny was the last time I was truly invested in Lulu's romantic life.

Is there a site out there that lists all the characters that were killed during the Phelps and/or Guza tenure?

Well, it's great that he is back, but what I want to know is WHY on earth did the episode not END with that scene, and instead of some WEIRDO character waking up from some dream as an alter?!

I'm sorry but these kinds of things are sometimes so offensive. I really don't want to criticize Cartini at this point - I love them to bits. But everyone knows that where the episode ends, that is the storyline/ character that TPTB views as the most important one. And for them to end the episode with Kate, instead of Scotty, is just ludicrous. The same thing happened with Frisco, I think he was the second to last scene on that episode. Then, it was the Caleb story that overshadowed him.

Please, get your priorities straight! When a 20 to 30 year old veteran character returns, THAT is the most important thing/ storyline of that episode. Thank you.

^^^^^ THIS! That Sonny (manboobs and all) and Kate is the "A" storyline with the ending tag is so ludicrously insulting. Luke/Laura/Scott should have been how the episode ended.

"we" knew Scotty was coming home.. we should have assumed that it would be at the end of the episode (as is with most soaps).. and to be honest.. I was NOT expecting Connie/Kate to snap out of it.. I was kind of shocked/surprised, so I loved it.. if Kelly Sullivan was a gawd awful actress I would understand.. but she knocks it out of the ball park every time.. I'm happy with the ending and can't wait to watch todays

^^ Sorry. Kelly Sullivan is not the worst of actresses out there, although not the best either - but it doesn't even matter how good of an actress she is or isn't. The character is horrifying, and IT needs to go, pronto.

As a OLTL fan, I'm just done with all of the DID stuff, and yes, I know it's all new to GH fans that never watched OLTL. It's very obvious (IMO) that Sonny is going to be in love with Connie AND Kate, which was done to death over on OLTL with Jessica/Nash and Jessica/Ford.

If GH ends up staying on the air, fans will see DID (Connie/Kate/???) for years to come!

Honestly? Kin Shriner, GF, and TG all seemed a wee bit awkward with one another. I guess they just have to get back into the swing of things? That said, their scenes were pretty good overall, and there's lots of mystery in the air. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds. I'm especially interested in the Ice Princess. Kudos to Cartini for allowing Laura to stick it to Luke right off the bat!

As far as Skate goes, I kinda like Connie. She's funny, and she can be very kind-hearted. But I am tired, tired, tired of the DID s/l. I thought Kate was an OTT pain in the butt today. They should just integrate the character and make Connie the dominate one.

I agree with everyone who said that they should have ended the show with a Scotty scene.

Edited to add: Unless I missed something, they dropped the ball a little bit in the editing dept. One minute Lulu and Dante were standing there and they were all talking about the Ice Princess, and then Lulu and Dante gone without explanation. In one scene, Luke crumbled up the Ice Princess (which I was sorry to see because I wanted to know what was under the black), and then in the next scene he was holding it again. I thought maybe he would have tried to peel the black off or at least see if something was written on the bottom. I realize it's symbolic, and not the real thing, but I was surprised that they didn't inspect it better.

^^ There was a scene where Lulu & Dante left. Lulu told her parents to "have fun" or something like that and they walked away through the gate.

I found the crumbling/ continuation scene weird too, but someone explained that he didn't crumble it completely, that there was a small portion left in his hand and that's what he is inspecting.
