Is General Hospital Getting a New Male Intern?
By Luke Kerr on January 31, 2013
After years of the hospital being an afterthought on the ABC Daytime soap called General Hospital, Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati have revitalized Port Charles' central treatment facility, introducing a slew of new doctors and nursing students. Expect this trend to continue, as Soap Opera Digest is reporting on a casting call for a new hospital intern!
GH is reportedly hunting for a “25 to 30-year-old African American or mixed race male, who will be an intern at GH and is described as handsome, dynamic and charming with a kind heart.”

Please Soap Gods let this be the one the only... Tom Hardy Junior. Paging Robert Ri'Chard to this role stat. I would love for liz to get some more family. By the way would love for Tom and Simone to comeack for an arc too.

From your lips to the soap gods. Its really been long overdue and with Steve exiting, Liz could use some family on screen

I will keep wishful casting Andra Fuller from The LA Complex for every 20something black male role until I read that this brother has a steady gig.

A love interest for Felix? Or a Felix recast? (Wouldn't it be hilarious if Felix gets a boyfriend before Liz does!?)

This better not be another newbie...
I'm really wondering about these casting calls with the cast already so big.

Praying it will be Tom Hardy Jr. It is more interesting when new characters already have ties to the canvas. This way Simone and Tom can come and visit their son at some time in the future, and Liz gets some family back.... since they are already planning on killing off Steve Hardy's other grandson.

Why couldn't they cast Maya or her sister? At least with Maya we could get the missing Q.

Hoping this is for Tom Hardy Jr.
The show is rather bloated. The new additions have not added but rather subtracted from interesting story (Mousy Nurse v. Bitchy Doctor anyone?) Plus, all of the returning fan faves. It seems all characters and audience aren't necessarily well-served with a bloated cast. Case in point, the return of the Real Duke Lavery has garnered so little story. Mac & Felicia are rarely seen.

Getting really bloated, and they need to be tying these new people to GH's history. Unfortunately, bloating the cast with useless characters is the one thing Frank and Ron are really guilty of. They are great storytellers, but think of the following from OLTL: Brody, Gigi, Stacy, the entire Ford clan, Destiny's entire family, Aubrey, etc... USELESS.
Please be Tom Jr or a Felix recast. I am hoping if it's a love interest for Felix then please bring on Lucas soon to have a love triangle.

I enjoyed most of those characters. And they all propelled storyline for the characters we truly wanted to see. If it takes someone new in a story with Leslie Charleson, Jane Elliot, or Genie Francis to keep them on the screen I say go for it.

hollywood and their casting notices are at it again. and you know "mixed race" means part white!
I'm guessing the casting directors are hoping the African american actors who try for the role are part white and therefore light skinned and therefore they have more anglo features and look more white and therefore they're more "palatable" to the tolerance crowd of hollywood? typical from hollywood. even racial minorities have to be part white!
and how come there are no Asian americans on a soap opera abt a hospital? Asian americans are very prominent among the medical profession! pew research has reported that Asian americans are the most educated among all groups and have the highest graduation rates among all groups and make up 50% of professional and managerial roles. there should be majority Asian american chars on tv shows w/ medical and professional and academic settings. But no Asian american doctors on gh isn't problematic right?
gh is never critiqued for its lack of racial diversity among Asian american chars. primetime medical dramas like grey's and the failed emily owens only have a sprinkling of Asian american token chars but everything has to be abt the white chars! gummer is one ugly actress but of course she has to be a part of a triangle w/ 2 other white doctors. And then they portray the Asian american doctor as someone who's attracted to emily but he doesn't get that she isn't attracted to him. white women have to be the "ideal" for hollywood. even if they're ugly like emily owens' gummer. hilarious!
gh and those primetime shows are abt romantic relationships. the tolerance crowd of hollywood would only portray Asian american females being paired romantically w/ majority white actors and seldom African american actors. hollywood is against Asian american males being portrayed as romantic leading men bec the status of white males would be threatened. white males are the priority for hollywood w/c loves to proclaim how "tolerant" and "progressive" they are.
tv shows are bashed by the mainstream manhattan media and entertainment press if there are no lgbt chars. but the mainstream manhattan media and entertainment press don't have a problem w/ the lack of Asian american portrayals and hollywood's degrading and racist portrayals of Asian americans

Whatever happened to Terrell, Lisa's "assistant" to deal with Patrick? It's like he dropped off the face of the earth. Hope they never recast Felix or Sabrina. Britt can go altogether.
