A Trick-Turnin' Destiny and Her Child? Is THIS Matthew and Destiny's Storyline on The New One Life to Live?!

A little birdie sent me a casting breakdown that is reportedly being used for actors auditioning for the roles of Matthew Buchanan and Destiny Evans on the new One Life to Live. Judging from the brief scene, this won't be your Mama Evans' Llanview!
I won't publish the breakdown—because the last time I linked to one published by another soap opera-themed website—the casting site's owner got all in a snit, but I can and will paraphrase! Now take this with a healthy grain of salt, as it could simply be a breakdown used to audition actors, which doesn't end up making it on air.
Apparently sweet, little teen mom Destiny is now meeting men on a site called SugarDaddy.com, in order to support herself and Baby Drew. Matthew is portrayed in the sketch as a deadbeat, who turned his back on Des and their son. At one point, Des accuses him of only showing up when he has a "hard-on"! Shut yo mouth...
The breakdown is very edgy and timely, but I wonder if it's a bit out of character for Matt and Des? Would she really be desperate enough to turn tricks for old dudes? I know Senator Dorian Lord has some kind of food stamps program available in Llanview. Does Des really have to do something strange for a piece of change?
Wouldn't the Evans, Bo, Nora, Clint and/or Viki step in to help her — even if Matthew went back to his trifling ways? Maybe Des is too proud to beg?
OLTL's new co-head writer Thom Racina has had success with the hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold formula before. Remember Days of Our Lives' Kimberly Brady? That Irish-American lass was saved from a life of taking $50 dollars to make men holler by dashing, British spy Shane Donovan back in the 80's. Could Racina and writing partner Susie Bedsow Horgan find similar storyline potential with a hoish Destiny and her child? Sound off and speculate in the comments!

Im ok with it cause for one its a year & half later. Plus I could see Matt doing this he acted like an entitled brat with Eddie Alderson in the role.
As for Destiny that one seems tricky. It seems she would have support (Bo, Nora, Shawn, & her folks), however could some bad blood had spilled between everyone. Time will tell.
The one thing i do know is that U trust Racina & Horgan to show us both Matt & Des' motivations for their behavior.
I also wanna say im glad OLTL is thinking outside the box with its dialogue. Cant wait to see it this April.
Also now that we have a audition scene released, I hope we soon see Jamey's wishful casting for Matthew & Destiny.

I hope that this is incorrect. What made OLTL so popular was the warmth and ultimate goodness of its characters. Taking the characters of OLTL in new and diametrically opposed directions is not a good sign.

I think its best to see how it played out. Karen as a hooker was scandalous but became one of oLTL most memorable stories

Holy crap!! I mean I guess I can see it since its been a year later, you have Mathew who didn't really want a kid anyway but why is Destiny poor? Aren't her parents well off?

I am NOT AMUSED! Her baby is a Buchanan, why can't she hit up Bo and Nora for some loot? Asa is rolling in his grave.

I agree w/ Jillian. This is GROSS and VILE!! Destiny is too smart to turn tricks. Why wouldn't the billionaire Buchanans provide support? Why must a young black woman turn to prostitution? She came from a good home. This makes zero sense.
The Destiny we saw was smart, witty, a bit sarcastic, a truthteller, and wonderful.

Wow the Sugardaddy.com is straight out of the news, that is a hot hot hot trend for young college ladies in NYC and creepy old men (and young) who are ok with paying for a pretty thing. It's a business arrangement a pretty name for being a hookah, but I guess if you're planning on having sex might as well get paid.

Agreed--Destiny was a fun, likeable character who had a great support system around her. Actually, it was the over-abundance of people wanting to "help" her that caused her so much grief when she got pregnant.
Given the way Prospect Park has communicated virtually every aspect of their project via leaks, this is hardly surprising. How many of their leaked stories turned out to be *pffft*?
If nothing else, it might be an audition script written to test the range of the actors, and not something being used for the actual show.

It is very timely, which Agnes Nixon always was with her soaps. I will give them that. The Happy homemaker-turned-hooker. The light-skinned sistah passing for white.

I like the sound of Hookah Destiny and Bad Boy Matthew. It gives the characters more depth. I hope they keep the script as is.

This will never happen. It's an audition script, as Jamey points out. ('m taking this with his healthy grain of salt.

GMAB!!! No way Bo, Nora, Clint, David, Mrs. Evans, Sean or anyone else connected with the Buchanan/Lord contingent would let that happen.

I'm leaning toward it not happening...it just doesn't make sense, and seems extremely out of character for Destiny. Even though Matthew initially didn't want to be a dad, he eventually grew up at the end and accepted the baby.
If they want a hooker, they can bring back Deanna.

Matthew was turned into a twit just to prop those Ford boys, especially the one that was dating Danni.
I could maybe see Rama now that Vimal is gone trying to make ends meet by signing up for the SugarDaddy website.

Ehhh. Hope this doesn't happens. I also don't hope the roles are recast - especially Shennell Edmonds.
But this SL would be no different then Kevin trying to support Chloe & Delia on Y&R, when Delia already got bank from the Abbots.

This is great! Just what shows need to do t be relevant and daring.
For everyone saying "Destiny wouldn't do that" let's remember she was only 18 when the show went off the air. People change a lot in their late teens and early 20s and make decisions they regret.
I could totally see a once fat girl who never got noticed by the guys getting into shape and for the first time in her life being "pretty" and then wanting to use her looks as power over men...especially when the man she loves (matthew) doesn't want her.
As for Bo, Nora, Shaun, et. al, not allowing her to do it how many people on this board did things their parents never knew about?
This story has Karen Wolek 2.0 written all over it. Most people who are prostitutes aren't toothless crack whores. Many are educated.

Sounds like Llanview will be a lot more naughty on the net...I absolutely loved Kimberly Brady's storyline..so I will wait and see. We have to let go of Frank/Ron's vision of OLTL. Racina is a different type of writer...but he is a good writer!

This. She's already a teen mother. What's next? She'll lose her ability to read and write, and need tutoring?
Yeah sugar babies are a timely storyline, but why can't we see young Danielle going this route?

This whole set-up is downright stupid. Destiny's baby is a Buchanan, one of the wealthiest families in the country. Why in the hell would she prostitute herself to support the child. Plus Bo and Nora are two of the most moralistic characters in OLTL history. They would NEVER raise a deadbeat. This ridiculous storytelling is the reason these soaps are being canceled left and right.

I beg to differ. I know countless families where decent, upstanding citizens raise real turds.

@Marcelle....being a teen mom at 16 certainly will derail one's life. Does anyone watch MTV's TEEN MOM? These girls are messes. Many people are messes when they are young. It makes sense that Destiny would feel robbed of her teen years and want to act out. It is more realistic to have this young woman who got knocked up by a guy not interested in rasising the baby to become a hooker than be a doctor at Llanview Hospital or an exec at BE. This is better than vampires on GH or the 100th version of a mulitple personality story. Hook-away Destiny!

I can understand a young person doing something their parents never knew about. And I could probably understand if this was some "exerting power over men" thing. But this is being described as Matthew being a deadbeat and she doing this to support herself and the baby. Now, I guess the scenarios don't have to be mutually exclusive. And it would be one thing if this were a normal family. But this is the Bukes. There is just no way I can buy them not knowing what is going on with a member of their family. At the very least, Big Daddy Clint would have PI checking in on Destiny. I don't know. This just screams of drama for the sake of it and not something that makes much sense considering the family involved.

Yes, but NONE of them have the kind of family and support system Destiny has. Again, this storyline would make sense for Dani who's living life unsupervised, parents off doing their own thing while she just, what? Chilling at college?

Co-sign this entire paragraph. I could buy this for all the reasons you stated, BUT if they try to say Destiny is doing this solely to support her child…ain't nobody got time for that.

@Jamey Giddens: Lena Cardwell (Ex-Simone, Passions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_Ow0rWI63M ) would work now that she is going to be "on the hook" so to speak

All I have to say is that the Wolek family (Wanda, Vinnie, Larry, Jenny) were the pillar of society in Llanview. Jenny was a nun!! Larry was THE doctor in town. That's why Karen's hooking and the reason she fell into was so shocking.
Until we see how the story unravels I'm reserving judgement.
One other thing to remember. Besides Destiny getting knocked up at 16 she also had to deal with her brother turning out to be her Dad and her parents actually being her grandparents. It is likely that the poor girl would have major issues when it comes to her identity. For all we know Destiny might not be hooking for the $. She might do it for power....anyone read 50 SHADES OF GREY?

I had a baby at 16 by a youngman who turned out to be a deadbeat, I was/am what some might call "thick", I graduated with a bachelor's degree after 4 years of college and though I was born into a family with considerably less resources than the Buchanons or Evans, I never considered prostitution.
I have a soft spot for both Shenell and Eddie so I am not planning on following the show I watched for most of my life when it heads online.
